The CG trailer looked excellent though it's kinda weird to see it potentially go in a 'survival' direction. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out though and hopefully we'll get to see some actual gameplay footage soon.

Looks like it god be good, especially if they take the survivor route. Lara looks hurt :( I'll take care of her :shifty:

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

It's a prequel set in the present? So all the later ones will be set in the future then?

You can tell because Lara has an MP3 player and Beats headphones that only came out 2 years ago.

Or she's like James Bond - outside of time.

No one complained when Casino Royale was set in modern times.

Lara can be an 'eternal' character like that.

And i like the touch of the violin playing the first two notes of the classic tomb raider theme, then subverting it. Surprised me.

Hopefully her voice will grow on me. Keeley Hawes nailed it, a lot to live up to :)

Did James Bond ever have a prequel movie?

I'd call it a reboot.

Staying on topic, this new Tomb Raider, visually at least looks strawberry floating crazy good. Be interesting to see how this shapes up to our current adventuring hero Nathan Drake. The recent Tomb Raiders of late have been decent, but I think they've been playing it very safe ever since the tripe-fest of 'Angel of Darkness' so it'd be nice to have a groundbreaking new Lara adventure.

With E3 around the corner we should have some proper gameplay to go on.

Casino Royale went right back to the beginning of Bond if I remember correctly.

Granted it wasn't a young Bond, but it doesn't make as much sense with that character as it does Lara Croft.

This game looks like it could be something really special, after Underworld I think this was definitely the right move to make.

Will there be good platforming?

I hope there's good platforming.

I honestly can't think of any ideas I'd have to make a new Tomb Raider game (or any other game of it's style) any better than merely good and any different to the likes of Uncharted.

Harry asks for good platforming but I don't see where platforming can go. It doesn't seem to have the same impact in todays gaming, as far as I can see. Most non platforming-focused games have your character auto-jumping etc as having to time jumps is annoying.

Less of a glorified cover shooter (Uncharted) and more like the Tomb Raiders of old. Gameplay-wise, it has more in common with the 3D Prince of Persia games than it does Uncharted.

Thats utter rubbish. Auto jumping is mostly terrible, you definitely don't want it in a game like this.

As for where it can go, combat in general could be made better, basically brining it up to par with other games, while making better physics based puzzles, more open levels, make the world feel more real and less like a conduit to get somewhere.

I can think of loads of ways it could surpass Uncharted quite easily.

I like Tomb Raider platforming better than PoP for many reasons, one of them being that you can jump whenever you want and not just at a platform's edge (not talking about 2008 PoP here) - it makes the whole platforming a bit too QTE and the routes through each area are too linear.

Tomb Raider i've always liked for it feeling more in my own control, and the weight and momentum of Lara was just right (in Anniversary, none of this twitchy-rapid-Underworld rhythm).

Also whoever said platforming should be auto jump or as scripted and weightless as the likes of Enslaved and (from the wee i played) Uncharted is wrong in my books.

Weighty, non-sticky, precise platforming is the order of the day. Like Anniversary.

I really go on about that game too much.

In fairness, that looked like the very first level and seemed very epic! Appears to be very LOST and looks in a pretty good shape even though we are well over a year away from launch!

Colour me interested!

Uncharted with a girl. Which is a wonderful thing.

Uncharted wouldnt have ever been made without Tomb Raider so, only fair they borrow some back.

Button prompts and context sensitive buttons =| QTEs.

I thought it looked decent. Certainly the first Tomb Raider that seems interesting to me. In the conference they mentioned "exploring open world environments" which is promising. The only real downside so far were the orgasm-like grunting and shouting.

Lara's soundbites are infuriatingly annoying.
