I don't have Gold either, but chances are someone will stick it on a torrent site within a couple of hours of it going out. Saw a bit of a promo for it the other day, does look like it could be worth a look.

Age hasn't treated Connie Booth well. Prunella is more attractive nowadays

It's a sitcom that still manages to show up nearly everything else currently on television. It's simply hilarious.

It's the best. What I find really interesting is that it gets better with age. It's genius.

It wouldn't be acceptable if it was made today, as there's a serious racist comment made by one of the hotel regulars, the Major. Obviously back then I didn't pay any attention because I was too young to appreciate the series, but my eyes almost popped out when I read the subtitles.

The "N" and "W" words were used to describe Indians. It'll be enough to make Alf Garrett blush with pride.

But the "Don't mention the war!" sketches had me in stitches, still. And the Re-opened mentioned that the German audiences found it funny as well.

Also it made me to look out for the DVD as well.

Some channels stupidly cut out that scene, despite not being at all offensive, except to racist people perhaps. It's taking the piss out of the Major, not the Indian cricket team.

"No no no I said. ******* are the West Indians. These people are Wogs!"

It's racist language rather than comments, perfectly fine in my book as it's all humorous.

It's not as bad as Little Britain where that person vomits at the sight of a black person. Little Britain relies on shock to amuse it's viewers because the writers are too strawberry floating inept to write anything funny. Little Britain could have been written by a 10 year old such is the level of its 'humour'.

Just exactly what did you expect to see out of a Torquay Hotel window? The hanging gardens of Babylon? Hores of Wildebeest sweeping majestically across the hill?

450,000 tuned in to this last night, which is rather good considering it's GOLD.

Quite a decent show really, although there's far too many ad breaks on GOLD, nonsensical amounts.

I'm looking forward to next week's show with Cleese talking about his favourite scenes, that should be a great few hours TV.
