I went to see the first ever episode filmed last night at the BBC oddly, considering it's for channel 4.

It's a panel show about the weeks television in which Charlie is the host and has 4 guests on who he talks to about the shows and then asks some questions.

I don't know how long the show itself will be but the recording went on for over 3 hours and was pretty funny, the guests were;
Celebrity Big Brother runner up; Funnier than I expected.
David Mitchell: Good as always.
Jamelia: Actually a bit retarded. Seriously.
Rufus somebody: Funniest and nicest bloke on the night

They were all pretty funny, for different reasons and Charlie was on form as always but the show itself I imagine will be pretty terrible whenever/if ever it airs.

It's such a odd thing, the first round had them discussing this weeks 24 for a little bit then a few questions, it was all very unnatural. After that they talked about the biggest 3 television formats and had more questions, then there was some more stuff I'm not really sure what was supposed to be about.

It was incredibly disjointed switching from discussion to quiz, Charlie isn't a very good host for this sort of thing, the guests weren't sure what they were supposed to be doing and well it was just a bit of a mess.

Maybe they can clear it up in the edit but it seems like a different, slightly more awkward spin on TV Heaven, Telly Hell.

Almost sounds like a spoof show. Considering the bile Brooker aims at lazy TV you'd think he'd do something original. Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive was a brilliant pastiche of the celebrity quiz show format, so even that's been done.

Still, it might turn out OK... :shifty:

Herbi doesn't like it = going to be amazing. Great news!

EDIT: Hang on, if they're discussing this week's 24, presumably this will be aired in the next few days, no?

o/ for the Annually Retentive 8-)

There was actually more emphasis on the discussion aspect, the guests were just on diary room style chairs not behind a desk or anything. That was part of what made it so weird.

Brooker talking about Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr having new chat shows was the best one liner that will be included in the show, describing it as a move Satan called 'the completion of phase 2'

I was most amazed at how stupid Jamelia is though, there was talk of Nigerian email scammers and she perked up about how she had got one that morning and had got in contact with the sender, because she thought it was a lot of money and figured it was worth following up  After embarrassing herself for 5 minutes on this Brooker asked her if she'd like some magic beans which had the audience in hysterics

EDIT: Yes it was Rufus Hound, I've seen him on a few things and he's always funny.

While we're on this, how did you get tickets? I've just moved to London and fancy seeing a something recorded.

Oh, so it was't through normal means? I just tried looking on the BBC website and there's noting that isn't fully booked and can't find anything for channel 4. Oh well.

No it was through the normal means, just that when I ask him he just says 'the internet'

You can apply for tickets to some tv shows through this website:

http://www.sroaudiences.com/

It did have this show on there a few days ago, but it looks like it's now fully booked.

I've used this site to get tickets to see Mock the Week before, it was brilliant.

Could have been a pilot, of course. They were talking about topical shows, and we haven't heard about it. Makes sense.

A panel show eh? Depends which direction they take it in, but given his track record, it should be good.

So that pilot Herbi watched back in January must have been successful since You Have Been Watching is starting next Tuesday.

Possibly fun times?

Unsure about this, doesn't really sound like Brooker's thing

and it will never be as good as 'It's only TV but I like it'

Regardless of how good it is, I'll watch it anyway like a good Charlie Brooker fanpuppy.

Still waiting with bated breath for Gameswipe.

Fake Edit: Looking through Brooker's tweets reveals the annual '09 Screenwipe yearly roundup around the end of the year.

You Have Been Watching airs on the 7th July, apparently.
