Resident Evil CG Flick Still Due This Year

Though Capcom has remained rather quiet about the North American release of the computer-generated feature Resident Evil: Degeneration, senior PR director Chris Kramer has affirmed that the movie will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD later this year.

Set seven years after the events of the first Resident Evil game and detailing the latest zombie-killing adventures of RE2 protagonists Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, the all-CG feature is being co-directed by Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayash.

While Capcom has always maintained that the film would arrive Japan this year, confirmation that the project is still on track and will hit North America this year came as part of a blog post by Kramer that focused on a Blu-ray.com list of disc specifications and extras for the Sony Pictures co-produced movie.

Those Blu-ray technical specifications and extras follow below:

Video will be presented in 1.78:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

* Interactive Picture-in-Picture (BD Exclusive)
* Trivia Track
* The Making of Resident Evil: Degeneration
* Character Profiles
* Voice Bloopers
* Leon Interview
* Resident Evil: Degeneration Trailer Collection
* Resident Evil: Degeneration Tokyo Game Show Trailer
* Resident Evil 5 Video Game Trailer

Capcom has yet to detail exactly when in 2008 the film will arrive, though Bloody Disgusting reports a North American release date of December 30.

Same here, I was a little surprised to see it was due out on DVD so soon...I was expecting it to have a limited cinema release first.

Shout! Factory have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (20th Anniversary Edition) on 28th October 2008. Celebrating 20 years after MST3K’s premiere on television, the entire creative team reunites for the first time through this DVD release. The 20th Anniversary Edition DVD box set features four of the show’s most requested unreleased film episodes – First Spaceship on Venus, Laserblast, Werewolf and Future War, and boasts exclusive DVD bonus content that explore the genesis, life and afterlife of MST3K. Amongst the extras are all new interviews with the entire MST3K family– including Joel Hodgson, Jim Mallon, Trace Beaulieu, Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett, Kevin Murphy, J. Elvis Weinstein, as well as footage from the 20th Anniversary Reunion panel and much more. The “lavishly packaged” 4-DVD box set also contains collectible lobby cards and a figurine of the world famous Crow T. Earlier this year, Shout! Factory secured the worldwide home entertainment rights to a vast library of original MST3K episodes that have never-been-available on DVD or for digital download. This DVD box set is the first of a series of DVD box set from Shout! Factory, in association with Best Brains, Inc.

Nope, no word of it yet Suzz :(

A rumour started last year they were coming but a spokesperson for Lucas said "Lucasfilm Ltd. has no plans to release any of the Star Wars movies on Blu-ray or HD DVD. Listings on Amazon.com or any other Web site are purely speculative and erroneous."

It's just a matter of time though.

Not a chance, Lucas hates money and would never release multiple versions of his films for profit.

A RRP of £30 is just ridiculous. Nobody would buy it at that price. Nobody.

Luckily shops don't follow the silly RRP, Play.com have it for £17.99 on Blu-Ray. I sometimes think they state those large prices so shops can highlight "Save £12" beside their prices.
