A New Look at Mario as He Jumps into 3D
Past Mario™ games have let the blue-suspendered hero roam around fully rendered 3D landscapes. Now, for the first time, players can see true depth of their environment without the need for special glasses. Super Mario™ is a 3D evolution of classic Mario platforming featuring new level designs and challenges.

FEATURES:
•3D visuals make it easier for players to judge the depths and distances in their environments. Players can more accurately judge the jump to the next platform or how far Mario is from a question block.
•New and familiar abilities add unique game-play strategies to the adventure. Mario can perform a rolling somersault attack or run fast with a dash move. Or, as Tanooki Mario, he can use his tail to hover, perform floating jumps or attacks.
•The Circle Pad gives players complete control to confidently move Mario through fun and challenging environments.
•New enemies include Goombas with tails, tall stacks of Goombas and a Piranha Plant that spits ink to obscure a player's view.

At least I now know when I'm going to get a 3DS.

Thank the lord it isn't in space. I miss whole worlds to explore rather than a load of mini planets connected together by a single path. I know it wasn't all like that in Galaxy (great game btw) but it was for the majority. I really wanted the intro bit to last longer on MG1, I miss running around and exploring :(

May be more linear than Mario 64 by the looks of the screens, still awaiting a true successor to Mario 64

Yeah it's looking quite linear but too soon to say, but it's clearly not in space!

As much as it's looked down on, I really enjoyed running around Isle Delfino and some of the levels. It was great to get familiar with an area through replays but doing different objectives, loved the first level. Hub worlds are awesome, not hub areas, WORLDS! Also, in Mario Kart 64 you could drive around Peach's Castle if you went off course, that was awesome.

Thank god for the 3DS analogue stick, no more shonky touch screen analogue of M64 DS.

You can see NSMBW Star Coins in the 2 right pics.

EDIT: Actually they look more like Mario Galaxy 2's Comet Medals. Could it be in Mario Galaxy style after all? Just look at levels like Gusty Garden in Galaxy 1, where they are not all necassarily in space. The fact the levels seem to be floating in the air support this. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

What I was thinking. Especially with the racoon tail in the logo which could be a reference to flight and the skies. I'd very much welcome it!

This is what I want from Nintendo. I would love the odd port from SM64/ SM Sunshine as well though in 3D...

Yes. I've mentioned this elsewhere. It's pretty clear you'll need to get mushrooms to turn into Super Mario, a la the 2D games.

In EAD we trust. If they get this right, we could be looking at the greatest handheld game ever made.

As much as I'm looking forward to this, I kind of wish they were making a Jungle Beat game instead.

How would it even work? The Wii version wasn't so good without the bongos.
