Just finished listening to the audiobook version of this and the whole story and background are amazing. Listening to the different stories from the army personel and from the downed pilot are particularly interesting. I really hope the film does it justice.

The downed pilot part seems to influence Left4Dead2's swamp land malarky. :o

Word War Z sounds like a Typing Of The Dead clone.

The audiobook is awesome and I have it on my ipod which I listen to in my car commuting to work and back. I got it free on the 'never never'. :shifty:

The only zombie book I've read is Stephen King's CELL (also being made into a movie, I hear). And I loved it.

Must look into this.

Amazing book, can't wait for the film. Let's hope they don't screw it up.

Well, according to ign et al. the script has been written by J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Amazing Spider-Man) and it's something quite special.
There was speculation it was more of a thinking man's zombie movie - if that's even possible.

I think there is still room in the zombie-film market for a film which discusses the worldwide implications of a zombie apocalypse - the social and political implications, the coverups etc.

If they do get it right, I think it will redefine the genre.

I love how people are still discovering this book. I'm not sure how a movie would work?

Would it focus solely on one story, or float around across all the other stories?

If you like Zombie books, check out "The plague of the dead"

Docu-Drama, one would assume.

Would have to have battle of yonkers in there at some point.

I don't think there would be time to do all the stories, and some may translate better than others.

Well, the last reports we heard from the preparations going into it suggested that it might just do the book justice, which would be one hell of an achievement. Probably. I've yet to read it - reading I Am Legend first.

Id like to see it as a trilogy, like LOTR!
