I don't even like zombies that much. I too think they can be overrated in the sense of an easy way to make a horror film scary with minimal effort on the creative side of things (except for the visuals, of course) but it's not like I think there's no way I could enjoy something with zombies in it.

Just requires a good touch.

At what point did I deny being a geek? At least I accept that I am.

There's a difference between conforming and stubbornly refusing to read what is regarded as one of the best books ever written about a certain theme because you don't like it and won't change your opinion.

...IN A strawberry floating TOPIC ABOUT HOW GOOD THE BOOK IS.

Seriously MCN, if you don't like Zombies then fine, whatever, fill your boots. But it's never, ever a good thing to say anything as monumentally stupid 'Why should I change my opinion?', which is one of the single most retarded sentences in existence. No one is saying you should change your opinion. They're suggesting bits of media that you may have missed which are good, or different, or original enough to make you see it in a different light. If you want to shut yourself off from something new then go ahead, but I know who's losing out and it ain't us.

OK, how about WHY SHOULD I SPEND MY MONEY ON A BOOK ABOUT A SUBJECT I DON'T CARE FOR?

What a terrifying standpoint.

It's not like we're talking about anything really gooseberry fool, like Werewolves.

Don't worry, he's just painted himself into a corner after:

-saying he doesn't like zombies
-demonstrating he doesn't know anything about zombies
-saying he doesn't care about zombies anyway

making his entire argument collapse and now in typically stubborn MCN style he has to fall back on the brave controversial opinion lark.

Also, the thread is not just about how good people think the book is. The whole fuciing POINT of a discussion is to discuss both sides of the coin. Otherwise it's basically a mass wank.

If you'd read the book and didn't like it you'd be fine, but you're like HSH in saying you don't need to read a book to judge it/know it.

Because you've said why you don't care for them, and we've addressed that this book actually addresses the fact that many people share your opinions, and have actually incoporated them into the story. So, if your opinion is 'lol why are people so stupid you can just run away lol', then it might interesting for you to read a zombie story that admits this about zombies and thus crafts brilliant and believable ways as to why human kind wasn't actually able to deal with the threat. Hell, as an ex-army man, you'd probably like the massive satirical critique of the American Military's response which is overly-technological and totally misunderstands the enemy, leading to utter disaster.

But no, you won't, because 'you won't change your opinion'.

Also, Walking Dead; really that good? Thinking of picking up the first book tomorrow. :shifty:

Is it a "does zombies a bit different" or "ultimate zombie horror in comic form" kind of series?

It's about the humans really and how they develop throughout the crisis. Buy the first hardcover.

Essentially this. Imagine Dawn of the Dead, serialised.

It's very good.

Also :fp: @ MCN.

But all that has been said has already been said.
