I haven't even upgraded to Vista yet.

Running Vista 32-bit at the moment. Not sure what the best solution is out of:

- Buying that £30 Windows 7 64-bit Professional deal available to students right now
- Keeping my pre-order for the full version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit for £45 (out October 22nd)
- Not upgrading at all.

If I do upgrade, then (from what I've read so far) I'm going to have to back up everything onto my external HDD and perform a clean install, then reinstall all my programs/gaes afterwards. That seems like a massive strawberry floating pain in all the wrong places.

I don't know. Someone tell me what to do. I'm too lazy to think this one through.

I'm getting it. I need a new install of something as this XP box is a bit wonky so why not.

I love Windows 7. It's easily the best operating system available today and pegs Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" for the crown of best of all time.

I downloaded the Professional version at the end of August thanks to my university being a part of MSDN.

Start-up and shut-down times are much quicker than Vista's and it doesn't use quite as much memory either. My laptop wasn't slowed down by Vista but it is only a year old.

I really like the taskbar and I've got a few programs pinned to it, which means I don't need to look at the desktop unless I want to empty or restore something from the recycle bin.

Just ordered a new PC with win7 from MESH, excited for it's arrival in 2 weeks!

Will be upgrading to 7 over the next few months. Have had enough of Vista and don't want Linux on both of my machines.

Laptop runs Vista fine but if 7 works better then i'll switch

Have it pre ordered as it was a good price , it has to run better than vista well lets hope.

Where is the option for "I'm already running it"?

Was planning on buying professional at the student discount but I don't think I can be bothered doing a whole clean install thing. Home sounds easier to install for my computer.

It's really good, obviously. Is it actually that much better than Vista? No.

Well I'm still using XP on my home PC and my company refused to upgrade to Vista so used XP there as well. I pre ordered Windows 7 when it was a bargain £50. Ironically I got a laptop 3 weeks ago which has Vista so finally get to try out Vista and Windows 7 is round the corner.

I pre ordered with that student discount thing for £30. Looking forward to it as Vista has been really, really gooseberry fool for me. Can't wait to see the back of it. Just I've gotta get a new PC before then as this one is more or less dead.

To be fair, if you have irreplaceable files, they should ALREADY be backed up. And everything else is a doddle after that.

don't make the mistake of not watching this if you're getting windows 7
