First of all, backup any files you want to keep. Then, with the disc in your computer, restart and press the key to access your boot menu in the BIOS (F12 on my computer, may be different on yours). From that menu, select CD/DVD-ROM drive, then press any key to boot from the DVD. Then simply follow the installer.

Been running Windows 7 Ultimate since launch day. Runs really smooth. I went from XP to this and I am glad I skipped vista on my main pc. Now to pop it onto my little notebook :P

Installed Win 7 Home Premium 64 Bit on my 4 1/2 year old Athlon 64 X2 2.4Ghz, 2GB rig by doing a clean install on a reformated drive as I previously had Win XP. First thing I noticed was how fast it installed. Gone are the days of installing for a good hour. Took about 25 mins and only needed a couple of driver updates which were downloaded with no issues.

Been using it for a week now and love it. Looks so much better than XP and noticably faster. I missed out on Vista as my company refused to switch to it and I never upgraded my home PC to it. I love the aero effects, the desktop gadgets and the new taskbar across the bottom with preview features.

So far so good.

Yeah I'm really loving Win7 so far. My PC which was pretty gooseberry fool when using Vista is running really well now. I was thinking of getting a new PC, but now don't have to :D

Mine was doing this too, which was odd as it worked fine on the RC. It turned out to be my anti-virus software interferring with iTunes attempts to update the file, so I can get around it by simply disabling real-time protection while iTunes is doing its thing.

And yes, iTunes is gooseberry fool. Unfortunately iPhones are lovely, and you can't have one without the other.

There's still no third party alternative?

I'd have thought for sure there'd have been hacked support for just about everything.

Just finished installing Windows 7 proper. And the first thing I'm doing is downloading the wallpapers from the Beta.

Google Sharepod. It's by far the best alternative to iTunes I've ever seen. Allows you to upload and download stuff from and to your iPhone.

Okay, forgive me if this is a noobish question, but my knowledge of computers is fairly limited.

Would 7 require a more powerful system to run than Vista?

For instance, would my little vista laptop be able to run it properly?

The opposite really, performance should increase when you put 7 on a Vista machine.
