Q1) Has the sleep/hibernate mode been fixed?

Q2) In comparison to running Vista on your PC is it faster, slower, or approximately the same speed?

thanks!

1) I didn't know it was broken. Please elaborate.

I don't know about Venom, but when I put my PC to sleep in the beta it wouldn't wake up without restarting the machine, rather than just tapping the keyboard to wake it up.

This has not been fixed.

Mine goes to sleep after 10 minutes(not sure about the time) but i click the mouse once and it wakes up and its normal.

So it's been fixed brah

No, mine still doesn't wake up.

Sorry to hear about it, R.I.P Knoyleo's PC ;)

That's probably more to do with the design of your local machine than anything.

I know that, but if Venom has the same issue then it isn't a wholly isolated problem. It still resumes where you left off after a restart, but it's a really awkward way of using the sleep function.

I'm running 64 bit.

Does anyone here have a funky multitouch screen and does it actually make life easier or is it just a pointless gimmick?

I think touchscreens have less to do with practicality and more to do with just being a pleasure to use.

2) It is faster. It's basically Vista at the core, but tweaked and improved to strawberry float.

Some, not all, PCs running it have insomnia. That is, you put Vista to sleep and it comes right out of it after 20 seconds.
My decent spec pc suffers from it. The Windows 7 beta had it (on my pc) so I really hope this doesn't for me as it is really useful feature if you use your pc on and off throughout the day.

Crickey, this has been a bit painless. Installed 64bit 7 on my 64bit Vista happy rig, and I've not even needed to get drivers.

I'm not noticing it to be significantly faster - though I am noticing it to feel more responsive., but I think that's the new theme.

If I install it on my current PC, then get a new PC next year will I have to re-buy it or can I install more than once from the disc?

So, err, yeah, getting me a new laptop for Christmas, I take it getting one with Windows 7 inbuilt will work out quite well? This is the one I have my eye on by the way.

Maybe, but does the licence for the Win7 serial number allow it to be registered on a second pc?

Depends on your apps. Itunes if you use it, for example, may need to be backed up seperately.

There are probably others too.

I just bought this using the student offer. I ordered a disk backup too but I'd rather use the download except I'm on my mac at the moment. The setup file is only about 350k though. Have I mucked it up somehow or is it one of those things that you open and it downloads all the stuff you need?

It downloads all the things you need, but it's an exe, no idea if it'll work on Macs.

Also, I don't think the Upgrade covers Macs.

Thanks. It's not for my mac. It's for my parent's PC but I bought it for them as I'm obviously the one who's going to have to install it.

Also, do you have to make an ISO with it or can you just run the installer from the HDD?

If it's an XP/Vista machine, I think you can run the exe.

Right this has probably been asked but im so confused so ill ask it. I want to get windows 7 pro off this student offer and i will be ordering the disc back up as i would like a physical copy. At the moment my dell has 2 HDD in it both 320gb one has vista on it the other has w7 rc1 on it. Now both these are to small so im going to buy a 1tb one for my files and a 500gb for my programs now ive heard that the copy you download is a exe file so i wont be able to run that but im guessing the disc one is a iso so when i get this can i simply put this in and the machine will boot up with it and install it on my new HDDs?
