Own-brand only.

Morrisons used to do this godly Fruit Salad squash which kinda tasted like a mix of Fanta Fruit Twist and Vimto. It was amazing yet I’ve not seen it in over a decade.

My local Asda stopped selling their own brand toffee popcorn a while back. After that they discounted the Butterkist toffee popcorn, which I think I liked back in the day so I got that but it tasted like crap.

M&S Coke. Stopped making it in favour of selling the real thing.

I used to love an apple turnover. There was never enough apple in them, but still. Not seen one in years (unless you want cream in there :dread: ).

M&S coke was pretty nice. Also used to like Virgin Cola back in the 90s.

M & S pecan pie. About £6 (which was pricey about 10 years ago), it was beautiful.

Also the old Asda takeaways, their curries were really good. Tandoori chicken and pelaw rice. It was a dark red, soaked in oil and would stain the plate. It's been replaced with bland, healthier versions of curries. Sainsburys pizza station was great a few years ago, then they replaced all pizza bases (thin and deep) with one option of sourdough... Tastes like cardboard.

Wish my image sig would work

Oh yeah speaking of curry, the Tesco own brand takeaway ones they used to do were amazing back when I was a fat banana split living on my own and used to eat crap food all the time. They were in a silver tray with a card top, and I'd make a big plate of oven chips, loads of salt and vinegar, then pour the curry on top of the pile of chips, and eat them while playing fallout 3

Sainsbury's root beer. Root beer went away from the UK in the 80s as soon as McDonald's stopped selling it and you could not get it anywhere. And I mean anywhere. Then in 2004 Sainsbury's started selling 2L bottles of own brand root beer for something like 69p. I drank so much root beer that summer I should probably be dead now. Then it went away again, but when all the hipster burger places started you could get Soda Folk and maybe the horrible alcoholic one. Waitrose started selling Bundaberg as well, and I managed to get a Soda Stream syrup. Soda Folk is too mapley and Bundaberg is too expensive - due to either taste or cost I struggle to just enjoy a root beer from those companies.

Now my local Sainsbury's has started selling Ben Shaw's root beer and I think it's pretty much identical to the cheap one from back in the day. It's also down to £2/6-pack on Nectar prices. I'm so pumped

For some reason I'd kill for a gluten free scotch pie right now.

I remember as a kid eating cheese, egg and bacon flan (the '80s name for quiche) from Safeway. No idea if they were actually nice, but I'd like to try it again.

So it's not just a discontinued item I want back, but an entire supermarket chain.

A long time ago my Mum always used to get Pork burgers from Sainsburys. I've not seen a proper pork burger in forever and I have no idea why. They were amazing.

Lidl had a turbo spicy (to the point of being near-inedible) frozen pizza one summer called the Inferno and they’re never bringing it back. I like extremely spicy food so it was godly, but even I had to eat it with a glass of milk.

I’ll never have it again and every time I think about it I get sad.

In fact, if you Google it one of the first results is a 30+ page thread about it where you can see the panic set in once it’s discontinued and it becomes harder and harder to find, before desperate attempts to find an alternative but never quite managing to get one that hits the same: https://forum.pieandbovril.com/topic/16 ... /#comments

Sainsbury's Classic Cola.

The steakwich. I would imagine they were the most processed (literally bollocks) meat around but I always remember them as being lovely.

Sainsburys 2L bottles of root beer. It was the last reasonably easy way to get it over here :(

Sainsbury's chocolate doughnuts used to be amazing (up until around 2005 when they changed the topping) and I want them back.

Also the apple filled doughnuts they stopped making in-store.

Tesco used to do highly strawberry floating tasty piri piri chicken wings. Gobbled that gooseberry fool like a battery hen eating cornflakes.

Outside of own brand stuff I am in a permanent state of mourning at the state of cereal in this country. The likes of Start and Clusters are no more and instead we have to tolerate gooseberry fool meme cereal like crunchy nut cornflakes.

M&S used to do really nice Spring Onion flavour crisps. Not cheese and onion, just spring onion. I haven't seen them in years and would like to try them again if they ever came back.
