That was in 1985 though; we've had 20 years of these songs being used for every 60s and 70s montage since.

It's starting to happen to the 80s now and one day we'll all be watching 90s sequences laced with Billie Piper's "Honey to the B".

So, was that the same reason Dylan played over the opening credits? Because I've seen a few reviews which criticise the lack of imagination for that, too.

The bad guy was actually one of the good guys? but he tried to kill off the good guys? why? It was never explained why he wanted to kill them off. I also thought Dr Manhattan killing Rorsarch a bit random and out of no where.

He blew up all those cities to stop the US & Russia from having a nuclear war and destroying the world. Manhatten killed Rorshach because he was gonna tell the world what Veidt had done. Veidt also had the Comedian and Hollis Mason killed because they were too close to finding out what he was up to.

Were you half asleep at the end, by any chance?

Perhaps I didnt explain myself very well. I did follow the plot, it just felt like it came out of nowhere 2 hours into the film.

As others have since mentioned. I just didnt think there was much of an over arking threat or villain. The main "bad" guy was obviously the mastermind right from the start. Each character had a flashback section or exposition about who they are and why they are how they are. The main guy - (is it ozzymandias? i didnt even catch his name) has no explanation. All we know is he is clever and revealed his identity. The final section felt rushed as a conclusion and drawn out as a piece of film making. The "threat" was revealed far too late and the spewing monologues were tedious.

This makes it sound like I hated the film. I didnt, its just these cool characters didnt really do much at the end of the film. The focus was too much on Dr Manhatten. The film would have been better served by splitting it into 2 segements like kill bill. This would have kept running time down but allowed them to play up the threat of war and given a real objective to the finale. The background stories and flashback sections were brilliant and introduced the characters really well. Its just the final Villain didnt have this introduction or exposition. Even after the film ended i really didnt know anything about him. His motives were good but the character was cold detached and unlikeable (not as a villain but simply as a film character) I truly couldnt give a rats arse about him or his scheming.

Give me a Rorsach detective PI spin off story and id be happy!

You said you predicted AATW turning up, calling it "uninspired". I thought you might have been interested to know that there was a very good reason for it. In fact:

That particular issue ends with Rorshach and Nite Owl riding (they're on hover scooter things in the comic) up to Ozymandias' retreat, just before the quote, which is the exact verse used at the same scene in the movie. It was genuinely very well done.

What you think of the soundtrack is up to you. I thought every choice was perfect myself, and whether or not you think it unimaginative, "The Times They Are A Changing" worked brilliantly.

I wasn't having a go, or anything - I just thought maybe all the song choices in the movie had already been suggested by panels in the comic book, so that my original criticism of some "uninspired" choices, was a fault of the book not the movie.

I'm really excited about reading this now. It better be good!

And how do you actually pronounce Rorschach? Is it like Raw-skartch?
