GR Exclusive Review :P

Damn good fun. It suffers from having too much of everything, too much comedy, too many robots (yeah it's possible), too much stuff going on, too much camera shake. But as the film progresses it gets better resulting in a great fight at the end.

The first Optimus Prime fight when he dies is AWESOME. He just tears gooseberry fool up, the fight at the end is also good once he returns to life. I also liked Soundwave (?) butt-fucking a sattelite for the entire film and the Octopi raping Megatrons face.

All in all I could have gone with a *** score but it's just too much fun. It goes at a VERY fast pace and some may not like that but as it goes on it calms down. And calming down is exactly what Bay needs to do for a third film, just take a big breath and be calm dude. Still though there is a fuckton of Bayhem to go around here and the special effects are sublime as you'd expect.

* * * *

For a midnight showing it was absolutely packed. When the film started they had strawberry floated up the picture so everyone started booing then when it was fixed there was a huge round of applause and then lots of ssshing when Prime started talking

Congratulations Michael Bay...

Massive build up, for a 10 second fight at the end where Optimus strawberry floats up The Fallen & Megatron with ease.

Too much human gooseberry fool, not enough robot gooseberry fool, too much gooseberry fool humour, too much shakey cam. So much unnecessary slow-mo as well.

Oh yeah, not to forget a bunch of scenes that look REMARKABLY SIMILAR to other films.

Jumper - CHECK
National Treasure - CHECK
GI Joe - CHECK
2012 - CHECK
Indiana Jones - CHECK
Terminator 2 - CHECK

:fp:

Still, it's what you expect, it's entertaining enough, but it could and should have been so much better.

Just watched it too; a bit late to be concentrating on a film, even one with no brainpower needed

Anyway –

Yeah, good enough, though there's the usual annoyances and a bit of over-looking: Spoiler time:

The 'Twins' (although quite funny in places) get waaaaay more screen time than the likes of Sideswipe, Arcee etc. and there seemed to be very little importance to the Decepticon characters. Megatron calling someone 'master'? Yeah right, that got on my nerves. At least Unicron had given him an ultimatum.

Prime scrapping was awesome though; and there really was some great bits. Then we get to Soundwave... What. A. strawberry floating. Waste.

But there was loads of robot action in it; jaw dropping in places, which saved the day.

Agree with PP, but I'd mark it 7/10 – and that's with a little reluctance. Could've been better I suppose; could've been a lot worse. Overall worth a look from most people; though I will say I was really tired before I even got there.

For the bit in bold:

What about Megatron and his 'master' – reeked of Starwars' Vader / Emperor. Load of rubbish.

And year, could've been much better. Was gonna give it a 6/10 but I think the sleepiness played a part there.

Yup. I never thought I'd hear the words 'Master' and "Oh no!" coming from Megatron.

I was disappointed that we never got to hear Soundwave say the phrase, "Soundwave, superior!" as well. But oh well.

I agree that the twins were gooseberry fool but I thought the Robots got just enough screen time, the Decipticons probably got more screen time than the Autobots. Devastator was under-used as well and yeah the last fight is a bit weak, I'm sticking with my score though because regardless of it all it's was a hell of a lot of fun.

And when I said the last fight I was referring to the whole war thing and not Prime/Megatron & Fallen

Not knowing about the Transformers legacy as a whole, having never watched the original series(I was too young, mostly, don't flame me), would I enjoy this objectively?

Those who have seen the film, is there any thing after or during the ending credits? like starscream flying off into space in the first film?

I don't want to know what happens, just if there is anything.

We didn't bother to stay the whole credits but I don't think there is thought becuase we were there when the "proper" credits rolled.

Remember the awful Master of the Universe movie, where there's a scene with Skeletor saying something like "I'll be back!" right after the credits finished rolling.

Ahh right, that's annoying. I like things after the/during the credits. Not sure why. The Starscream thing was only like 10 secs in the credits in the 1st one, so i doubt they would have waited for all the credits to role this time.
