Shia LaBoeuf. Hate that guy with a passion.

He's no worse than Short-Round and Kate Capshaw were in Temple of Doom.

Erm, the ending? Swinging CGI monkeys? Shia Leboef? The fridge? There's more but I can't be arsed to waste my time...

Short-Round was funny though, Shia is a humourless and annoying banana split in Indy 4.

That and you just know he's going to take over from Indy when Harrison Ford has had enough.

The fridge scene was so bad that it was actually pretty funny...that and he was standing so close to a detonated nuclear bomb & didn't suffer any real radiation poisoning.

Actually, I suppose that can explained away by his drinking from the Holy Grail in Indy 3. (but it doesn't explain why his dad is dead)

I almost want to see that happen just to see people's reactions

Erm, the ending?

What about the ending? Flying saucers? Are they any more fantastical than the Holy grail, the Angel of Death and open heart surgery?

Swinging CGI monkeys?

Pretty hard to train real ones.

Shia Leboef?

Meh, as I said there have been more irritating people in the Indiana Jones films

The fridge?

Fridges in the 50s were lead lined. Which explains why Indy climbed into one. Far fetched? Of course it is! That's the point.

Lead lined. Hence no radiation poisoning. Anyway, does anyone really take any of the films seriously?

Fair enough while he's in the fridge, doesn't explain why he doesn't get a massive dose of radiation when he gets out of it though & stands looking at the mushroom cloud.

Yet it got good reviews and was a success at the box office.

Go figure.

Does it really matter though? It's not as if they're striving for realism.

It did get good reviews, but wasn't really a success at the B.O.

As the budget was much bigger compared to the earlier movies, it had to make a lot more money & fell way short of the $400million that Paramount said it would have to make domestically (US) for the movie to break even.

It went on to make just over $750million (WW) though but wasn't as big as success that many wanted/hoped it would be.

Is still the most successful Indy movie.

When did I say that? You're the one who instigated this little set of posts.

I answered your points. And now you accuse me of being arrogant. Cheers Gandalf.

Suppose, I just hate it when movies change the rules as they go along. (would you be happy if the Alien in Alien 1 decided it didn't want to kill but just wanted a cup of coffee)

Not really the same, but you can see what I'm getting at.

Your answers were gooseberry fool though. Yes the ending was awful. Indy has always been about mythical and legend. The Ark, The Holy Grail....all religious beliefs. Alien space crafts do not fit in with the whole Indy thing. The swinging monkeys "hard to train real ones" you said, true, but at least make them look real. Shia was gooseberry fool, annoying, not funny, and yes unfortunately will take the mantle. And the fridge? Lead lined or not, he would have been blown to strawberry float with the force of the blast.

Better than yours.

No, Indy has always been about cliffhangers. The artifacts are just 'Macguffins' so Indy can have something to search for. Something that everyone wants.

Alien space crafts do not fit in with the whole Indy thing.

George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, the creators of Indy obviously felt they did. Plus, the flying saucers is keeping with the 50s period, the film is set in.

The swinging monkeys "hard to train real ones" you said, true, but at least make them look real.

I didn't have a problem with them. Besides, were they in there long enough to ruin the film? I don't think so.

Shia was gooseberry fool, annoying, not funny, and yes unfortunately will take the mantle.

I didn't have a problem with him.

And the fridge? Lead lined or not, he would have been blown to strawberry float with the force of the blast.

So? Does it matter? Since when has realism and Indiana Jones been mentioned in the same breath?

I don't wish to become embroiled in this HEATED debate, but I must say that Mrs Octoroc and I rather enjoyed it.

Regarding the lead lined fridge: Mrs Octoroc asked me, "wouldn't he die from radiation poisoning?", to which I replied, "shut the f#ck up b!tch, this is Indy not f#cking Threads, now suspend your f#cking disbelief or there'll be some f#cking trouble".

Well, it was something like that...

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.
