I think this is set while she is younger again, as they're restarting the 'story'. That's why they made her a boy as she has yet to have a gender change.

This looks worse each time something new is shown. Even the new typeface looks shite

I really like the new Lara model. High hopes for this and I can't wait to see some footage.

Why is there a heavy rain style QTE for that climbing?

Still got high hopes for this, Crystal Dynamics proved they have sufficient gaming nous to make something swell. Lara's new face in the big shots, though much more detailed than before, looks strangely unrealistic. Like someone was told how a girl looks by phone and just put together all the parts without having ever seen a real one.

Is it just me?

In game i'm sure will be fine.

Edit: Actually, she looks like a south-east asian woman but white, on the cover at least. To me, at least.

OK @tombraider fans I promise I'll drop some news on both Wednesday AND Thursday. I have it ready to go, lined up and in the bag.

http://twitter.com/CrystalDKarl/statuse ... 9825668096

Cover of the magazine the above scans are from:-

Image

"The extraordinary thing is not what we do, but what we are. We did not conquer the land or sea, but ourselves. "
Game introduction

Influences:
The physics of Half Life 2
Uncharted's atmosphere
The "visióln" of Assassin's Creed
The origins of Batmans Begins
The suffering of 127 hours
The mysteries of Lost

Jumps will be pretty common, as expected. But this time we'll have more control possibilities over them.
The sense of this, he explains, is that the jump is more realistic. Have more difficulty. Lara is no longer hooked to things, we have to make it reach the right point.

"I can not handle this. I'm not that type of Croft.
- Yes you are. But you have not discovered yet"
Roth encourages Lara.

"The central area of the island will be the base of operations. At camp we can buy skills, create new devices or re-quests missions already passed. In the rest of the area we will look for or climb up to new "missions". "

Buy skills. Looks like we have a system to accumulate points to buy these skills?

It says the game is in early stage .....

The magazine says that she fights against a wolf. The fighting system this time is with quick time events. During the sequence you have to press several keys in order to beat the wolf.

The system of "clues" (sorry this crap traslation talking on tracks) is a key to activating "a special vision system separated by colors that are interesting: stage and irrelevant objects are displayed in gray and clues with yellow color. So we can follow invisible clues to simple view. "

The pick axe can be used as climbing gear and a weapon aswell.

I've a feeling this is going to be really good. I can't see it topping Uncharted but I think it'll still be a joy to play.

I've always wondered why massive Western franchises sometimes have world exclusive features in non-English magazines. Surely this article would get more coverage being in an English magazine?

In the 90s, Official PlayStation would have got it. Ours mags seem to be very late these days. It either goes to some EU mag you've never heard of, or Game Informer.

Western doesn't automatically equal English.

I know that. I meant magazines in English, rather than English magazines. Bad wording.

I'm getting a bit worried, as this is beginning to sound interesting and I'm going to look like a utter tool (no change there then :shifty: )

This does sound like it is borrowing a lot from Assassin's Creed. Not a bad thing by any means, but I would have thought they would have gone for a fresher feel.

I don't think I really understand why they need to re-boot so dramatically. Just get back to what made the series famous, exploring massive spooky deserted tombs. There is a reason why Anniversary has been the best of all the TRs over the last five years.
