I've been really enjoying this. About 5 hours in and just stopped after the big dramatic helicopter crash. Seems like a bit of a cakewalk so far on normal. I've only come across one ridiculous death scene so far. Looks absolutely lovely on the PC too, makes me wish for a new graphics card, had to tone down some of the high end fancy hair and DoF stuff for 60FPS.

Completed this over the weekend. Definitely my GOTY so far

Love the constant action pieces along with the platforming and exploration. Finished on about 70-odd% but don't really fancy going back for the collectathon.

Some of the execution finishers for the weapons are brutal.

Right at the end though wasn't too keen on the whole supernatural soul sucking witch. Felt like it ruined the whole feeling of a crazed psycho stuck on the island.

Can't wait to see if a sequel comes on, it looked stunning on the PC and couldn't wait to see what it brings next time!

A Survivor is Born

Just reached the point of no return and have to say I'm glad it's nearly over. Graphically, a standout of this generation. On the other end of the scale, the story and characters are pure hokum though. Lara has about as much personality as a decaying dog without a supporting cast adding to the stench.

When it's great, it's great. The hidden tombs are by far the highlight but are far too small to be of any real enjoyment. These moments are over before they even begin but this is what Tomb Raider should be. Big overworlds, from years gone past. I want to explore long forgotten tribunal ruins, not Resi 5 style shanty towns. The set-pieces, while enjoyable, offer zero challenge and less said about QTEs the better. The shooting by the end is just sheer lunacy. The wave after wave of samurai, left me completely perplexed. Same thing happened in Uncharted 2, same thing happened here. These games just do not require the amount of shooting developers think people want.

Collectables... they should add something to the game. Why should I go looking for things only to unlock a picture? There is zero incentive to collect long forgotten objects outside of wanting an achievement. Just seems like a total waste of time to me.

The team have created a great platform as a base for greater things. Where they want to take the series now is still up in the air but I just hope they separate themselves from the pack and get away from the onslaught of brainless shooters.

The Italian branch of Amazon just listed something rather interesting, named Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. At the moment the game is listed only for PS4, with a second entry labeled “platform unknown,” possibly indicating an Xbox One version.

According to the listing page, the Definitive Edition is to be released on January the 24th for €59.99. Preorders are already available.

The description also provides further details:

All the relesed DLC will be included in this fantastic edition for next gen consoles. Preorders of this edition will include an exclusive package with an integrated artbook.

Of course, like all retailer listings with no official confirmation from the publisher and developer, this has to be taken with a grain of salt and has to be considered a rumor, but the details provided seem a bit too precise to be completely invented. We’ll have to wait and see if an official confirmation will actually come.

I'd be interested to see if this runs better than it did on my PC. (It won't).

I'll be giving it a miss. I enjoyed my time on it but not the extent that I'd double dip. Now if it was the definitive version of GTA V...

One of the best games of the year so far. I'd definitely play through it again.

Once was enough but anyone who hasn't tried it should give it a shot.

I have purposely abstained from GTA V because I feel it is coming to the PS4. If a PC version is revealed and there is no mention of a next-gen version then maybe I will doubt it...

But Tomb Raider. Really good game. the devs did that Nathan Drake speaking out loud monologue element brilliantly with Lara. Not perfect but fun.

What Harry said. I can't see a "definitive" version looking any better than the PC game.

Pretty much confirmed:

IGN via Eurogamer wrote:Square Enix has finally responded to reports of a next-gen Tomb Raider port for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and hinted that its reveal will take place at this year's VGX (formerly VGA) Awards.

"It's so hard to keep a secret these days!" the publisher told IGN. "We appreciate all of the enthusiasm, however we don't have any details to share just yet. That said, we highly recommend you keep an eye on any major gaming events happening in early December."

The VGX Awards will take place late on 7th December, and Eurogamer will have live coverage.

Hope there's a digital game upgrade for it. Already had it since that half price offer back in March. And I still haven't played it. :fp:

Too many games, too many tv hogging by my family, and not enough time is my problem. At least with the PS4, I can always use the Vita as a second screen.
