Yeah, what a wanker. Building houses over a playing field.

Seriously, it's the only nice place left in our area, they also want to build houses over all the last little bits of green area around where I live, they can strawberry float off, if it wasn't for those green areas our strawberry floating town would be even more of a shithole than it already is.

Priorities.

Surely building new houses will create work, and opportunities for the area?

We've already got like 5 housing areas being built up at the moment, we shouldn't need any more.

I voted for the Liberal Democrats, although they have little chance of getting in power locally. I wouldn't call my vote a protest vote though, as I consider it an extra voice in the argument for electoral reform.

If they are being built I would think that they are. They are probably being built for single parent families and bogus asylum seekers though, so quite right. Boo to new houses!

According to GR the Lib Dems would have a majority of 246 seats. 8-)

I don't get your point.

We should be protecting as much of the last little bit of green we have in Essex as it's the only nice thing about it.

As has been mentioned before, priorities. Is there a shortage of affordable houses for first time buyers in your area? If there is then houses are a priority. If people can't afford to buy in your area then they will move somewhere else. Companies looking to invest in your area will look elsewhere if they do not have access to a young workforce/market.

So the politician weighs up the pros and cons, a green space so people have somewhere for their dogs to gooseberry fool or some affordable housing for first time buyers?

I had hoped for better things from you. After 13 p*sspoor years of the NuLabour experiment, with a permatanned and newly-enriched Blair now off gallivanting around the world making his $millions off the back of a completely illegal war waged mostly on defenseless civilians, after 13 years of relentless assault on UK civil freedoms by a determined government hell-bent on erasing any last trace of true 'democratic' expression in this country (and they have over 3000 new laws to prove the point), after the debacle of Brown's 'prudent' Chancellorship of a now ruined economy... Afghanistan... etc... etc...

And you're still convinced they're somehow better than any of the alternatives?

You honestly think none of the other parties would have invaded Iraq?

I just voted for the Lid Dems and the polling station was only a couple of minutes walk away so not bad at all.

Yeah. My justification for voting for them in the locals is that they're going to be too busy collecting the bins to worry about affecting a change in science policy.

About to head out to the polling station. Instead of it being a 30 second walk away I now have to wander through the bad streets, where I'll probably getted strawberry floated up yo.

Why vote for them regardless if they've got such a stupid policy?

Voted for Lib Dems

Corazon de Leon

I'll be going up to my mum and dad's later on for some dinner, and then the polling station is at my old primary school right round the corner so I'll saunter round whenever I feel like it. My mum wants me to go with her so she can be sure I've voted, since I've been vocally considering spoiling my ballot, but it's my strawberry floating vote not hers.
