Apple have removed the firewire charging pin from iPod nano meaning that this device will no longer charge with the majority of speaker docks and car stereos that are on the market.

I've already found my iPhone 3G incompatible with my iPod car stereo. Very disappointing.

Sony Ericsson? I seem to recall their latest walkman phones have this facility.

Im gonna download iTunes 8 later today.

I think the reason Apple decide just to have a 120GB iPod Classic was that most people only bought the 80GB instead of the 160GB version.

If it's not engraved or anything and you bought it straight from apple, take it back and for a small restocking fee you can get the new one.

The Genius playlist thing is actually really, REALLY clever. Yeah if you try it with obscure tracks it isnt going to do anything (Locoroco Theme!) but genius-ising a bit of Idlewild or Maximo Park creates some nice rock and indie playlists, with the right sort of tempo and loudness!

We got the new nanos in at work today and although I didnt get time to load anything onto them yet (that waits till tomorrow) but there are a few things you need to know before getting one:

- This thing is sexy as hell. That Glass screen is very bright and the curved design IS a lot thinner than before. The whole thing weighs a bit more as well, but in a good kind of way, kinda like a Powershot G9 or SLR kind of way. Doesnt feel so flimsy.

- The accelerometer works pretty well (I tried out the included 'Maze' tilt game)

- The click wheel has a rubberized feel as opposed to the smooth plastic of old, meaning its a bit more tactile.

- the hold switch is smaller but better. You'll understand when you see it.

Ill try to sneak some photos tomorrow.

Thinking of getting myself the new ipod touch. Never had an ipod before as I never really got on with the classics I used, but I really like the look of it. At the moment I have a Sony walkman NW A3000 which I love, but its coming up 3 years old and is a bit slow these days  .

So yeah, do any of you guys have an ipod touch, would you recommend it? The thing that I really like with my current walkman is the sound is really good, especially with the earphones I have. Whats the sound like on ipods? I've heard mixed things, so I don't know if it's just people being picky or what.

You guys can make my decision.

I've had a 16GB Touch since launch and can't recommend it enough. You really have to hold one in your hands and play about with the touchscreen to really appreciate it. The Safari web browser is excellent and the amount of different apps available is great. I previously had a 30GB classic and can't notice any difference in sound quality. Itunes is a piece of piss to use. The only thing that annoys me about iPods is the internal battery.

Anyone tried download the 2.1 Touch update? All I get is a 4kb iPhone 2.0 file when I hit download. Hmm.

For the Irish people - is the iPhone available anywhere on Ready To Go? I don't want Bill-Pay - and where can I get it (all shops currently say that it's on order) and for how much?

It's not ready to go yet. It's also worth noting that O2 don't support visual voicemail over here. When the iPhone does go ready to go I wouldn't be surprised by a pricetag near €600 and for that sort of money you are better off going on billpay.

Are the iPod Touches any good? Any point in having one when i already have an iPod Nano, a laptop, a TV, all the regulars?

Unless you have a burning desire to go online on a tiny screen where you have access to WiFi, no. As a portable music player they are absolute bricks.

There seems to be plenty of people reporting problems with updating the Touch to the new firmware. My iPhone runs like a dream since installing 2.1, it really has eliminated all of the bugs and glitches I was experiencing before.

Just downloaded the 2.1 patch myself and so far it's everything that was promised. The phone runs like a dream now, extremely smooth with very little hang time or crashing. Of course the biggest change, the battery life, will remain to be seen.

tried out the new iPod Nanos in Regent St yesterday, like the way the screen changes when you turn the iPod nano sideways.

Still gonna keep my 80GB classic though.

I still can't download the new firmware. It must be a problem with the Irish Store if all of you's can download it fine.
