I love the office, never fails to make me laugh. Nice to see the Royal Family get a mention too it seems to be unfairly underrated by many.

The best scene from the show:

I love the US office, especially Season 2 onwards. The supporting characters are brilliant, and in many many ways I prefer Carrell to Gervais.

I do quite like the UK Office though, the end of the Christmas Special made me :D .

Love it.

It's already been briefly mentioned but the episode with the bad customer service, there's been a rape, "he's not dead" etc.

Honestly I never really found it that funny, it had its moments but very rarely did they put more than smile on my face, not like something such as Peep Show which has had me crying with laughter at times. Perhaps actually working in an office effects how much you actually take out of the program though, I've never worked in one so even though I get a lot of the humour I can't relate to it one bit.

I think both versions are brilliant but the UK my favourite. The US version is much more sitcom-y...

I've never seen the US Office but those clips were pretty funny. I know the characters are supposed to have similar traits to those in the UK version, but the downside for me is that when watching those clips I can't help but think "He's copying Gareth" etc. x

In season 1 of the US version it does appear that way, but stick with it. The characters really become their own as the show progresses, deviating from the original template.

I did this by severing my real arms and replacing them with super-human cyborg arms.

The US version is much different to the UK one, especially from season 2 onwards. Obviously you still have the love story at the center of the show but it's still very different.

I love the scene when they are on the team building day in the training room and Gareth has gone outside for whatever reason. The training then gets onto people's fantasy and stuff and then Gareth walks back in the room....the training guy asks Gareth his fantasy and he gives that look and says....

well, you know the rest!

My favorite TV show ever.

If someone doesn't get it you can't explain it to them.

I love The Office it's easily my favourite comedy of all-time and it just gets better with repeat viewings.
I tried to watch the US version and couldn't get into it at all. I watched the first two seasons and half of season 3 but found it to be very average.
The original is perfect.

The first lines of the show is among the best..

but also..

Gareth: I did learn a lot from David. I learnt from his mistakes. We're very different people; he used humour where I use discipline. And I learnt that nobody respects him. And in a war situation, if you want your platoon to go over the top with you to certain death, it's no good saying to them "Please come with me lads, I'll tell you a joke." It's a direct order "Come with me." And they'll go "Yes, he's got good leadership skills, let's all go with him to our certain death".

btw.. SuperBump.. lets get this thread going again

I'm not sure about the American version. Steve Carell is a little too smooth and fast-talking. It's more polished than David Brent. It's still funny but more in the way that The Newsroom is funny.

I think they're both great shows, but I think maybe Gervais and Merchant make things a little too bleak - I appreciate bleakness too, but it's nice to have a bit of hope as well. Michael Scott is a more rounded character than David Brent. Also, the US version has countless episodes and a range of writers to draw on while the UK version is basically two blokes. Wow, that's a long-winded way of saying I'm sitting on the fence!

Extras is pretty terrible though.
