Is that when that guy is trying to demonstrate bad customer service and Brent is more focused on showing them how to get the assistant's attention?

I agree with Cuttooth. I love the UK version but I prefer the American one. It's just funnier imo, also there's just so much more of it so the supporting characters have a lot more personality because of it.

I also agree with ComJam.

Yep, and Loire has posted the clip above. It's just the shock of when he says it, and the way the whole room goes quiet that makes me laugh. It's actually a great come back too, it leaves the guy speechless! x

This! Some of the scenes are so cringe worthy! When he does the welcoming speach to the Swindon lot.

You mean you're embarrassed on Brent's behalf, though, right? I'm sure Gervais is extremely proud of The Office.

It's a fantastic show. It's rarely laugh-out-loud funny, which I suppose puts a lot of people off, but it's just so inventive, clever and brilliantly acted. Extras was great but it couldn't touch The Office.

Well, yeah, actually. The Royle Family.

But aye, The Office is like a fine wine. For me, it gets better with age, especially considering the dearth of decent comedy on TV at the moment.

It's hilarious. It's not meant to be a comedy like Only Fools.

Quite simply, one of the greatest things about GRcade because it can be used in times like this:

:fp:

Also, I prefer the US Office as well, it's funnier and I like the secondary characters more in the US version and their relationships with each other. But the UK one is still superb.

Nope. I just don't like that "style" of show.

It's hard to describe...it's the "Oh my god these people are sad and pathetic laugh at them" rather than the "Oh my god these people are sad and pathetic laugh at the situations they get into/things they do

I just don't like that (it happens in other shows to).

I think I get it, like sometimes you just laugh because "that pathetic guy" did his pathetic routine he's famous for again? It happens in all shows, I guess, if you replace the "pathetic" with "funny", "tough", "cheerful", "silly", "psycho", etc etc etc, but for me in the Office the good outweighs the predictable. So you are wrong. WRONG. BWHAHAHAHAHA.

It's the subtle things that I love about the office, like in the second clip where Gareth puts two of the black profiles straight into the bin instead of the "no" pile.

I really don't see your point. The Office is great because it doesn't entirely detach from the characters to laugh at them. The viewer is supposed to be embarrassed for the characters when they act up to the camera, engage in petty office politics or say something entirely inappropriate because they don't understand the social situation they are in. At the same time though the viewer forms a bond with the characters because of the painfully accurate way in which they act and prays they can just relax and be themselves, which is precisely why the specials were so triumphant in allowing certain characters (particularly Brent) a small victory. The situations are hilarious, but the viewer is supposed to secretly want the characters to stop. The Office is as good at drama as it is at comedy and that is why I love it so.

Office is genuis comedy.

My friend doesn't like it and I just cannot understand how some people don't "get" it

He's thrown a kettle over a pub, what have you ever done?"
