I've just got the Sky september magazine and there isn't a mention of the new season. None on the website either. Please tell me ESPN haven't grabbed the rights. Anyone know?

I read somewhere that they still have the rights but were looking for an on air sponsor. The fact theres nothing in the mag dosent bode well though.

Were the rights up for grabs this season, then?

As a Virgin customer I'd actually prefer ESPN to show some games if it meant HD football. But if it somehow means fewer games that wouldn't be as exciting a prospect.

Five have some Sunday night games. It's looking like ESPN taking Monday night games and Sky taking some others.

NFL UK wrote:Latest news is that we won't have anything to report this week on a finished deal.

One piece of information I can give you, though, is regarding the current hold-ups. Nothing that has kept the contracts from being signed and sealed in the last couple of weeks is due to finances - in fact that was one of the first pieces of these deals to be agreed. The current sticking points are all non-financial.

Everyone is working to have them overcome in time to ensure that the opening weekend's slate of games are available on UK TV.

Channel 5 have got the late night Sunday games (Page 1 for that) & the BBC will once again be airing both the Wembley & Superbowl games.

I love NFL, I went all the way to Tennessee in December 2007 to watch the Titans vs the San Diego Chargers for my birthday with my dad (who works in Nashville periodically). Unfortunately for me the Titans lost but I've followed them ever since. They had a great season last year but were really unlucky in the post-season. Who knows, maybe this time round it can be their turn to shine

Go Titans!

Reuters News Agency wrote:LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Cable sports network ESPN signed a four-year deal with the National Football League to carry English-language broadcasts of NFL games in Europe, ESPN said on Thursday.

The arrangement starts this season and allows ESPN America to broadcast about 100 NFL games per season plus the Super Bowl in 41 European territories including France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Russia and Switzerland, the network said.

The regular season schedule will include four to six live games during NFL broadcast windows on Sunday (1 p.m. EST, 4 p.m. EST and 8:15 p.m. EST) and Monday (8:30 p.m. EST).

The schedule also will include the season-opening kickoff game, the Thanksgiving Day triple-header, all Wild Card and Divisional playoff games, the AFC and NFC Championship Games, and the Pro Bowl.

ESPN is owned by the Walt Disney Co and Hearst Corp.

Nope, it was announced today that Sky will be showing NFL, as part of a 3 year deal. Source.

According to NFL UK, red button coverage has gone, nor will Sky have the Monday night games. ESPN will probably get the latter over here.

About time we got some news on the TV coverage! Not that it would have bothered me, I have ESPN and Sky but its nice to know what games are coming up. Some good ones early on, predicatably went with the Brett Favre circus in week 1, cant really blame them for that.

Only a week to go too!

Looking forward to seeing what this new Broncos QB can do. Cutler was a bit of a twat so I'm glad he's gone.

Good stuff.

I was looking over the Vikings roster to see if there was anyone I knew and saw Brett Favre as one of their QBs. Isn't that equivalent of Steven Gerrard moving from Liverpool to Everton or United?
