Hopefully it'll be better than E3. That was a disappointment, even though there were some good announcements.
Leipzig is usually a good event, mind.

I'm looking forward to this, simply because we may actually see more of Heavy Rain as well as other new announcements.
Well, fingers crossed at least.

How many will we actually care about? 2?

Took me far too long to realise what TRICO was.
Hopefully this will have more new announcements than E3 had.
Speaking of trade shows, when is GDC due?

Just checked, and you're right. I thought it was before the start of this year for some reason.

So has Nintendo given any reasons for not being there this year?

I am not expecting any surprises here, the sega game has now been revealed to be a house of the dead spin off and we may get heavy rain for ps3. I want some big surprises but we will probably get more of the same, infact more of fifa 09 and especially pes 2009 will do me.

Well...
European Nintendo fans eager to attend the biggest gaming show in all of Europe, take note. Nintendo has decided not to attend this year's show. Considering they had a great show last year, we honestly can't understand why Nintendo would back out. Their new focus will be to participate in "smaller, local events and national promotional tours."
Any of our European readers saddened by this news? Were you planning on attending the show in Germany this year?

No chance. There's as much chance as Shenmue 3 being announced.
To be honest...I'd love to be wrong on both accounts.
What's this 10 big announcements business?

I think it's Sony's plan to come out of this much stronger than E3 but I doub't we'll be seeing TRICO. I'm pretty sure that would be left in the closet until TGS at the very earliest.

According to the
SixthAxis, the elusive
WipEout HD will be at Leipzig so hopefully it won't be long until we see it in the PSN store although it's still "TBC" on the official PS3 site.
The SixthAxis wrote:Over on the PSN side of things, look out for Eden, Rag Doll Kung Fu, Quest For Booty, the new Pain pack, The Last Guy and something very special from Warhawk.
I wonder what the "very special something" is? The rumour of a new booster pack with jet-packs had been doing the rounds for quite some time now...

Electronic Arts has released a list of games it'll be showing off at the Leipzig Games Convention, which kicks off tomorrow.
On show will be the usual suspects such as new FIFA, Need For Speed, The Sims and Harry Potter games.
Nintendo platforms get some loving in the form of Littlest Pet Shop, Boogie SuperStar, Zubo and Monopoly.
New IPs such as SimAnimals, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, Dragon Age: Origins, Battleforge, Spore, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning will be all present and correct. As will third-party games like Left 4 Dead from Valve, Rock Band 2 from MTV Games, Harmonix and Crysis Warhead from Crytek.
So a lot to look at but not a lot of new things to look at. We're praying they aren't just the same builds that were on show at E3.
A press briefing planned for August 20 will focus on:
* FIFA 09
* The Sims 3
* SimAnimals
* Boogie SuperStar
* Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
* Command & Conquer Red Alert 3
* Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning
* Dragon Age: Origins
* Need For Speed Undercover
* And a sneak peak at RAGE from EA Partner, id Software
Behind closed doors you'll find CVG's very own Mike Jackson poking his nose into:
FIFA 09
FIFA Manager 09
FIFA 09 All-Play
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09 All-Play
FaceBreaker
Dragon Age: Origins
The Godfather II
Mirror's Edge
Need for Speed Undercover
Command &Conquer Red Alert 3
Dead Space
Left 4 Dead
Battleforge
Crysis Warhead
Rock Band 2
The Lord of the Rings: Conquest
The Sims 3
SimAnimals
MySims Kingdom
SimCity Creator
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Boogie SuperStar
and a range of titles from EA Mobile.
clicky
