I'll be willing to bet that at least seven of those who voted for Deus Ex haven't actually played it.

Duke Nukem is pure sh*t. Any game to bare that name is therefore, sh*t by association.

Yeah but Zero Hour was ace. All you do is travel through time killing aliens. The PS1 game called Time to Kill I think, was rubbish though. But Zero Hour was ace. I hope this is getting through to you. Zero Hour = ace. You = rubbish.

One thing you should be clear on though.

No matter how good you think it was...its nowhere near as good as Deus Ex.

C'mon Deus Ex, I only ever got as far as the end of the second level before my PC buggered up and destroyed the disc but what I played was brilliant.

Deus Ex.

I don't really want to vote for any other options, as it's about time the game got the recognition it deserves on here. It's eight years old, but most "intelligent" games still haven't learnt the lessons Deus Ex presents. Sure, you can get games with more choices, a more complex story or more satisying shooting, but Deus Ex managed to polish all of its aspects to near-perfection, instead of just focusing on one attribute and letting the others go to pot. It's a master of all trades, to turn the cliche on its head.

Arguably the best thing about Deus Ex wasn't even gameplay - it was just the sheer amount of optional text dotted around the game world in books and newspapers.

Deus Ex. One of the finest examples of game design you'll ever see. There is something really special about a game in which at the end of the first level, the boss lectures you about corporate tax rates. Or a conversation with a bartender in which the three options are "I'll have a drink now", "I'll have a drink later", and "The separation of powers acknowledges the petty ambitions of individuals; that's its strength".

Heh, I was going to complain that some other game beat it last time, then I noticed it was Doom. Fair enough 8-)

I take it you have played it? I genuinely think your opinion on games is worth something but I see you didn't vote for Deus Ex??? I think it's the best game ever made. By a country mile. Apart from Galaxy, which is a mere turnstile behind.

I cant believe someone nominated Day of Defeat:Source ahead of the previous Day of Defeat... DoD:Source is a carbunkle. I'm also surprised Dungeon Keeper 2 isnt more popular, you cant beat a bit of comical dungeon action.

Deus Ex and Day of the Tentacle for me.

Deus Ex is still actually quite fresh in my mind. I only played it recently, a few months ago.

Worth every accolade it has ever received.

It's mind boggling how fresh and clever it feels, even today.

I only voted for Jungle Beat because it's the only one I've played :fp:

It is very good, but certainly not the second best platformer ever, it's woefully short for starters.

Jungle Beat!
Oweeyoweeyo!

That and DKC2. I could only come up with 2 games I've played / thought worth voting for.

Why only DKC2? Why not 1 and 3
