So you've replaced a task which I thought was OK and a bunch of people (mainly thouse who have been eliminated) accused (incorrectly in my opinion) of being a task of luck, with a task that, frankly, has nothing to do with gaming and would be more suited to a Mafia game. :|

I cannot understand how this task can be construed as 'luck'. Theres real deduction here, and your knowledge of gaming will back up whether something is realistic or possbly made up.

I disagree strongly its nothing to do with gaming. The luck comments were elsewhere.

What happens if the lie you make up for someone is actually also true to that person but just not the statement they sent you? :shifty:

A variant would be my main concern with this task. For example, I could claim "I beat Mischief Makers in four hours once", and it sounds plausible. It's a lie: I traded it in because I was young and scared of change. However, were it not for the last sentence DML will probably be none the wiser, then I'll have an easier time convincing people it's a lie. I do have to agree with StayDead on his initial point: it should be fairly easy to see who have been given truths and who have been given lies since they'll be arguing the opposite.

Personally my biggest fears at the moment are a) People will just lie about what their truths are and b) People are just not going to say anything in the thread so they don't trip themselves up and it devolves into a guessing game because nobody's willing to give up information.

I assumed the task would be along the lines of the show, where everyone claims their fact as true, the liars trying to lie well, the truth tellers trying to tell the truth poorly. The challenge being in analysing the story presented to you to determine its veracity.

I kinda hope I do get given a lie, my bullshitting has gotten pretty stale and could do with some work.

If I get my truth I could easily try and convince you it's true so you would think I was lying etc... there are many ways to bluff this game.

As for the 12 lies, am I right in thinking that there will be 3 per team (and so 3 truths also) to make it fair? If my team had 5 lies say and discussed it (or already knew before the contest about them) we would all know there are only 7 lies out there.

Also, what is the ruling on answering questions? Could someone just not turn up to the thread and so not answer anything? It would be a dick move but would leave everyone in the dark.

Maybe each team should get to ask 1 question for each person (so everyone has to answer at least 3 questions about their 'fact'). The team can discuss what questions they wanna ask and the captain can PM them to DML?

Theres a chance that to make all the entries uniform - I may alter the way they are worded slightly, thus to make them more difficult to distinguish. I won't of course change the truths themselves!

Just a heads up in case people think I'm tactically not posting tomorrow; I'm moving tomorrow so doubt I'll be able to get online until late in the evening/night time.

Also, can I clarify that if we get given our truth we're not allowed to lie about it if asked?

e.g. if my truth was "I won a Street Fighter II contest" and in reality it was at a local arcade; I couldn;t lie when asked and say I won the Japanese national championship or anything.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm sure a lot of these are kinda given but I just wanted to be sure
