Just out of interest, when is your birthday and what year did you start Uni?

May, and I started the Uni in 2003.

And you started uni at the usual age - 18 - rather than any later, like by taking a year out, yes?

Would have, but I failed to get in to the place I wanted and took a foundation course for a year instead, so I was 19 at the start.

So at this Freshers' Event, you will have been 19. Why did you seem unsure of your age when I asked? You know your birthday, and uni always starts in September/October?

How much older is DML than you then? How did you get dibs on Tails?

I am not sure why I am cross-examinating you... I am just going all Phoenix Wright on yo ass.

They're games that hold a specific significance to me one way or another, partially they're my favourite games and partially they remind me of whatever it was that was going on in my life when I played them and I think it's nice to spend a couple of days plowing through them and remembering the first time I played each one.

Last August, who did you pick as your starters in Pokemon Red and Pokemon Silver?

Nice try, fuckface. Last October, I went with my usual combination of Charmander and Cyndaquil. All fire, all the time.

What about you, my pale faced, ginger haired former guru? What caused your near death experience while playing Super Mario 64?

Ah, you noticed that.

I take it that Pokemon Red and Pokemon Silver are replayed as some kind of childhood nostalgia?

Do you play them in their original formats or the remakes?

Stop this nonsense.

I played Heart Gold last year, and I have been known to dabble with Fire Red, but I like to play the originals. I done got myself a Game Boy emulator on the Mac for ease of use this year. :shifty:

You didn't pick me up on Silver in your earlier reply. You just went with it.

I will break you, do you hear me?

I WILL BREAK YOU!

When did you first play these Pokemon games then?

EDIT - Or all the games you mentioned, for that matter.

Didn't really think about being that specific at the time.

I actually have no idea how old DML is, but a quick look at his Facebook tells me we are the same age.

No dibs needed really, we all conveniently had our own favourite character so it worked out nicely.

And now i have this stuck in my head:

So DML took a year out before Uni as well?

I'd dug an old PS1 game out of storage, a task that hadn't been easy given where the gubbins was stored, to play on my PS3. Despite some gentle polishing and liberal application of "game cleaning breath", the disk refused to load. Given the effort I had gone to in order to dig the damn thing out, I slightly lost my temper. Small room, close wall, boing, bruise under my right eye for three days. Controller survived, miraculously.

Ah, didn't spot that as I immediately picked up on the August point. To answer the question:

Pokemon Red would have been in Primary 5, so 1998. Gold would have been Primary 7, so 2000. REMake was the month it came out, I believe 2002. Resident Evil 4 was August 2006. The two Zeldas I got for Christmas in 1998 and 2000.

Given the psychics involved, wouldn't you have to be standing very close to the wall in order for it to hit you? I can't imagine a controller bouncing that far you see. I would test it on one of my own but...

Which PSOne game was it? When did you buy you PS3?

Do you do this replaying every year without fail then?

Why did you leave Resi 4 for so long? It came out, if memory serves, about March 2005.

Which version of that do you play? The original GC, the HD re-releases on PS3 or 360? Or the Wii version?

Quick question, what is the main difference between your rival in Pokemon Gold and the other rivals in the game? I am thinking it is something you can ... do to him.

Did you edit that in to your post? It wasn't there when I replied.

It was actually Lylat Wars that was responsible. Christ knows why my parents then got me it for that Christmas. Inconsiderate bastards.

Every year, without fail. Sometimes I struggle to finish the games, but I will definitely play through as much as possible. Someone playing this year's GGGC told me to buy it, I'd missed it out in protest of the change to the game's mechanics. I also missed Code Veronica when it came out.

I'm not sure what you mean about the rival. I love his long, ginger hair though.

Yeah I did, sorry. Anyway, what caused the near death experience from Lylat Wars?
