Nope, Dimitar is that damn good, just not the right type of striker for United.

It was said in jest (edited original post).

Maybe he is the right type for United when he's not asked to play so deep (current thinking is Fergie asked him to drop deep)?

Most of those Rooney goals were the same basic twat it really hard, only 3 of them were actually impressive and one of those was 7 years ago!

That is beautiful, sublime skill and an unbelievable finish, a master of his craft.

Some interesting facts about todays big news:

Remarkably, it took United only two hours to agree to Real’s offer for Ronaldo. David Gill, the United chief executive, was making his way to Geneva for a meeting with Fifa officials when his office received a fax from the Spanish club at about 6pm on Wednesday. Sources close to Gill insist that there was no warning from Real that a bid would be forthcoming.

Gill telephoned Ferguson first, then contacted Ronaldo’s camp, before the matter was taken to the Glazer family, the club’s owners, who insisted that the ultimate decision rested with Ferguson, at which point the manager gave the green light to sell the Portugal forward.

The news brought to an end a bitter three-year tug-of-war between the clubs, although it was greeted with an angry reaction by Michel Platini, the Uefa president. He described the fee as a “serious challenge to the idea of fair play” and vowed to establish new rules governing transfers in an effort to “clean up the system”.

It is understood that United will receive the fee in four annual instalments of £20 million. Sources close to the Glazer family insist that Ferguson will be free to reinvest the money on players, despite the club being faced with an interest bill of £69 million last year on their £699 million of debt.

In financial terms, though, the real winner is Ronaldo, who is expected to sign a six-year contract before being formally confirmed as a Real player on July 1.

His salary will start at £9.5 million a year, rising 25 per cent annually to a staggering £29 million — or just over £557,500 a week — in the final year. It means that he stands to earn up to £107 million.

The bolded part has been the case from day one when it comes to football matters. They're still banana splits.

Where is that from? Not buying the instalments thing as they've been burned with it in the past and taking into account the dirty tricks Real played last summer.

Reading it now. :fp: Vidic's wife.

Seriously hope that 20m thing isn't correct as it means they can buy only one player and that won't be enough.

Manchester United's official statement reads...

Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

Any chance unconditional in that context could mean all of it upfront?

Isn't Vidic's wife from Serbia? So why she moaning about the weather? She should be used to this type of weather.

Wouldn't it be amazing of she was somehow involved in the Ronaldo transfer? Ronaldo diddled my wife claims Vidic  But unfortunately was :fp: reports she wants to move to a warmer country.

Did a search but only managed to get hold of where they got married (University of Belgrade). His contract runs out in 2012... I can see him going next year if it continues to be a major issue for them.

The new thread is normally made when the fixture list comes out, which is very soon I think.

According to an article with Mihir Bose on the BBC, nobody pays on the nose for these transfers. Abramovich did for a year, but even he stopped that. So I guess although 20million per year doesn't sound as good as 80million up front, presumably United can still spend a good chunk now and spread their payments over 4 years too.
