So we can point to poor officiating as the reason we're not still in the FA Cup and Carling Cup and why we're not further ahead in the Premier League.

I'll watch on Match of the Day, I'll still follow the club outside of the matches, I just want to take a break from watching their matches live.

It's a heathen thing to say in here but it is just a game! If I watch them for 90 minutes sometimes multiple times a week only to be continually disappointed and enraged by various factors then why shouldn't I take a break from it? Especially after seven years of the worst disappointment*.

I still support them and I always will. Watching a game live or not doesn't change anything in that regard. It's not like I'm walking out on them half way through a game when I've already decided to give them my attention.

*Don't be saying you'd love to be in our position because any sane person knows it's all relative to different clubs.

Edited for Glowy.

7 years of the "worst" disappointment? Youve been relegated then? Not qualified for europe? Give me a break.

About being in your position? Yeah I read it, but spinny posted what you put, Im sure if you were winning week in week out you wouldnt be "giving them a break" Its just wierd how you can go from going to see them live to not wanting to. At all, for the forseeable future.

And yeah ut us just a game, but everyone loves a game when you're doing well, its how you react when you're not, and youve basically bailed. :P

Of course I'd love it if we were on top. People watch football to be entertained and winning is entertaining. 7 years of close but no cigar has made me want to take a break. It'll be a month tops and I'll still be following it.

Whether it makes me any less of a fan or not I really could not give less of a strawberry float.

Try four years of everything being decided off the pitch, constant threats of administration, boring business figures taking up every single bloody phone in, then come back and tell me this is bad. ;)

I was gutted, too. Surprised you can't tell from the tone of my posts.

You want all the success you can get for your team. And city not winning something this year would be disastrous. It will be interesting to see how many players Mancini brings in in the summer

Of course! I want us to win everything we can. But Spinny's right - there are plenty of positives we can take from this season if we finish second. The team's growing as a unit, we've got a good manager and we're very much headed in the right direction. We were unlucky to exit both cups (though in all honesty I can't begrudge Liverpool a place in the CC final). A "disaster" would be finishing outside the top four.

How? Because I want to stop watching a football team for a bit? Some people need to get a grip as to what football actually is. It is not the be-all and end-all.

I don't want to watch Arsenal live for a bit, so I'm not going to. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

If I was throwing my toys out the pram I would have done something a lot more "drastic" a lot sooner.

As a fan of the team currently propping up the Football League who pays to see them get thumped every home game, I can relate to Skippy.

I can't believe City fans are complaining their squad is a bit light after a few injuries.

Atleast you have players who can play in their positions. Arsenal don't even have fullbacks and have to play centre halves their. We had to play Carrick at the back for a few games. We lost Vidic, who is just as important to us as Kompany is to you. You haven't had any major long term injuries. You expected Toure brothers to be away. That is the risk, when you sign African players. The same will happen next year as it is a back to back tournament. And I can't believe I'm defending a City player, but Savic does need time. Vidic wasn't great when he arrived, nor was Ivanovic who was pushed to right back rather than played at centre back.

I stand by what i said, Top 4 finish Carroll to get 20 Goals. 3 of them coming from Downing assists against villa at Anfield 8-)

Ive just been reading through the thread from the start, some good laughs  this thread is amazing. Out of all the rubbish predictions, good old fin comes up with the best one I can find 8-)
