They have two channels that they broadcast in the UK already. Apparently they're going to launch a brand new third channel now they have the Premier League.

Are they on Sky? Or how do you get them?

Yes they're on Sky, which is why your knee jerk reaction was met with confusion.

Generally its an american channel, meaning they would have commnetators in similar standard to that of shitanta? Thats what I meant..... :shifty:

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

But Setanta are Irish with no Irish commentators. :fp:

Besides, FOX ,ESPN and the like who show Saturday 3pm premiership games in the US all use British commentators, anyway, and that's for an American audience. It's highly unlikely that they'll be using American commentators over here. There's a greater chance of Glowy burning his Rocky collection.

Won't be Sky only. Will most likely be a subscription service.

I'm certainly not paying that. They're going to have to seriously drop their prices to make me subscribe to their channels.

They're free on Sky.

No clue about their new channel though.

I can never work out the ESPN stuff on Sky: there's that strawberry floating awesome channel which shows classic PL matches which is free-to-air, but then there's subscription channels as well, notably the one which shows live MLB and NHL.

ESPN Classic is the one you're talking about. ESPN America is the one which shows live American sports (like MLB, NHL etc.), and it's a Setanta subscription channel.

EDIT: ESPN.co.uk is now live, and says it will be broadcasting the Premier League games in HD.

They've also told the BBC that they're talking to Virgin Media about a deal to carry their service, whilst BT are yet to comment. I doubt Freeview will get anything, or Freesat.

Rodwell's been great so far, especially considering he's the youngest player at the tournament. I've been saying it for a while, but we've got a real talent on our hands right there. Hoping to see him develop into a more attacking player, saw he obviously has the ability for it with that surging run earlier.

I've been stung by Setanta's dreadful service before and I'll be wary of subscribing to any new ESPN channels (or any non-Sky channels for that matter) .

However I would be delighted if they were to offer the games on a PPV basis. If it was £5-6 per game I'd buy every Liverpool game without a second's hesitation, I hate the way Setanta get you in a long term contract and bum you for activation fees.

I think it's quite similar to supporting a club, and then being told by someone who doesn't support them what's happening with them. Which happens quite often on here.

You still can't get a true perspective though. Even in your own street, one person may think it's a shithole and crime is rife whilst another person may think it is lovely.

I've based my argument on what I've ACTUALLY SEEN and experienced so I think I'd have a better idea than someone who is being paid to sell newspapers. Throughout this discussion, no one's provided a link to any evidence that they are claiming to be true. If you've got a point to make then please back it up and I'll be the first to admit that I'm wrong.

So far, I've claimed that few people are likely to be shot as they'll be in touristy areas which will be heavily policed. If they go in to rural areas then, unless they are visiting with a tour group, the chances of something happening to them are higher but still the same as anywhere else. As long as they're sensible and don't go flashing the bling around and walk around in groups etc, they'll be fine. gooseberry fool happens here just as it does anywhere else. :P
