Quick question - why is it so bloody hard to get hold of Disney DVDs on the internet? I've been looking for Beauty and the Beast for my girlfriend for Valentine's day, and I can only find it in R2 format for £45-60 second hand. It's a pain in the arse

The disc is out of print so people will keep asking for insane prices until they release a new batch at some point in the future unfortunately.

Indeed, Disney DVDs are very weird like that. They have very limited runs and become like gold-dust to get hold of.

Nope. Bruce Campbell was on Jonathan Ross' radio show yesterday and claimed it was being shown in cinemas from valentines' day. It's a very limited release apparently.

Sorry no official word yet though they were actually rumoured to be released last year so hopefully a release wont be too far away.

Fox have been absolutely useless with HD so far.

I wouldn't expect them any time soon, especially not this year.

It's not that FOX have been useless with HD, they are worried they won't sell without some sort of big release tie in. (example...Die Hard 1,2 & 3 Blu Ray were released a couple of weeks after DH4.0 Blu Ray)

But that's just my take on it, it's entirely possible they will announce the BR releases tomorrow/very soon.

Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter (R2/UK BD) in April

Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the UK DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter on 6th April 2009. From the director of Watchmen and 300 come two tales from the celebrated graphic novel that do not appear in the new Watchmen film. Tales of the Black Freighter (featuring the voice of 300’s Gerard Butler) brings to animated life the novel's story-within-a-story, a daring pirate saga whose turbulent events may mirror those in the Watchmens’ world. Stars from the Watchmen movie feature in the live-action/CGI Under the Hood, based on Nite Owl’s first-hand account of how the hooded adventurers came into existence.
