I don't keep track of my losses. I don't really see them as losses anyway. I justify it to myself by saying I'd be losing a lot more if I was a smoker. Or a heavy drinker. Better to throw money away on bets than on cigarettes or excess booze.

I put a sneaky bet on Man U to win when they went a goal down. First time they haven't made the comeback in about 13 years. :fp:

I was going to put a bet on for them to lose... I often do that but never win anything.

Had no monies in my betting account though. :fp:

Does anyone here ever do what I like to call 'emotional gambling'?

For instance, I will simply have to put £10 on Forest winning next Saturday. That way, whatever happens I will be in some way happy. I will genuinely be a million times happier if they lose or even draw (retaining the BC Trophy FTW), but a little profit would help to ease the pain just that little bit.

Need to get started with this now.

Never done it before, where's the best place for it? Preferably with Paypal, please.

Generally people use Betfair for gambling, it's whats known as a betting exchange.

Basically you bet against other punters which can/generally (in my experience) = better odds.
Better than that though, Betfair allows you to play the role of the bookie, known as laying bets.

Mind Crime, why don't you just do Matched Betting? Win-win.

First ever choice:
I've gone for the potentially huge mistake of just picking the big names
£1 accy on
Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd, Tottenham, Chelsea, Sunderland, Everton, Celtic, Barca, Inter and Juventus.

potential return- £138

and 50p on Drogba, Rooney and Torres scoring, potential £3.00 win there.

http://www.matched-betting.com/guide.htm

This provides a good introduction. It takes a while to get used to and won't provide the same adrenaline as you can't lose.
You can make a small profit from it though, maybe £200 a month.

A guy on moneysavingexpert has made £51,000 from matched betting and arb betting (arb betting is where odds offered on different bookmakers will guarantee a profit).

A real example:

Tennis A Murray vs J Benneteau Ladbrokes (1.909) | Sky Bet (5.500) 41.71% 21-Aug-09 5:48 pm

bet £1000 on Murray @ 1.909 would give profit of: £1909 / £350 on Benneteau at 5.5 would give £1925 a guaranteed profit of over £500.

Naturally. Their opponents are always bent out of shape.

I've put on a £2 accumulator on Leeds, Man City, Arsenal, Celtic, Man Utd, Boro, Charlton, Bayern, Lyon, Nancy and Sunderland to win tomorrow. That will bring in £320, more than enough for a PS3.

That's insane. Are these kind of opportunities a regular occurrence?

They've won all their games so far and are at home to mid-table Walsall, I think they're worth including.

As a post-results treat, I thought that I'd put a couple of bets down.
I've just put £1.50 on this:

TO WIN:
Barcelona
Inter
Juventus
Lyon
Bordeaux
Werder Bremen
Wolfsburg
Bayern
Liverpool
Chelsea
Everton
Tottenham
Man Utd
Man City
Arsenal
Sunderland
Celtic
Rangers

Potential return of £3272.

It's a really long shot, but I thought I'd give it a go. What do you reckon?

Murray would be nowhere near 1.9 for a single against Benneteau. I'm guessing he must've done it in play at a point where Murray was a break or set down. Looking at the Djokovic v Simon match tonight, Djok is best price 1.2 whilst Simon is best price 6.0 so very little profit margin.

Also, less teams in your accas people or at least try it with smaller stake 7 or 8-fold upwards. It's 160/1 for a reason, to put it in perspective the same price as David Beckham is to win Sports peronality or Man City to go down.

You mean more than enough to deposit to the boat fund.

Why'd you want a PS3 anyway?
