The script might be a bit better as Jonathan Nolan will be writing it (unless that's recently changed)...but I don't have much hope for the movie if they go with the rumoured plot/story.

I haven't seen the plot but I was hoping for something like this

I was thinking after I saw it I wanted to see how John Connor brought everyone together and why everyone believes he is the savior. We see flashbacks to how it all began while seeing Connor leading the preperations for the final battle on Skynet. Prehaps we see an older Kyle being prepared to go back in time to save Sarah while Skynet are making huge waves of attacks on the Resitance. Having an ending ala Empire Strikes Back with everyone taking on their role and the humans on the brink of collapse. Also signs of T-1000 in development which will continue in 6

T5 spoilers...(rumoured plot)

“They’ve figured out time travel to the degree where they can send more than one naked entity. So you’re going to have hunter killers and transports and harvesters and everything arriving in our time and Connor fighting back with conventional military warfare, which I think is going to be strawberry floating awesome.”

Robert Patrick will most likely be making an appearance in T5, but not as the T-1000.

In superb style. Pirates of the Carribean and Harry Potter are others, but these are all new movies, begun with the full intention of finishing the stories over a set period of time (with two of those directly based on books).

However, I'm talking about older movies where the most we had hope for was a direct sequel. Have any of those ever panned out to expectation?

What about Aliens and Predator, culminating with the Vs movies? I thought Requime was precisely half bad...

Just got back from watching this, and I'm really dissapointed. The story was pretty shoddy, and Bale was unimpressive. I expected to see this high tech, robot infested future. Instead we got a baron desert with a few very Transformers looking robots dropped over it.

I really wanted to enjoy this and genuinely believed McG wanted to make a good film, but it's lacking so much. Actually no, it's lacking James Cameron.

On a positive note, that guy who played Marcus was really good. Apparently he's in Cameron's new Avatar movie.

Oh, and did any spot the Aliens reference when Connor was looking for Reece in Skynet?

You mean the motion tracker/ homing signal, right? I just thought it was yet another example of lazy storytelling. For starters, how did Conner know Marcus would be able to interface with that PDA-thing?

The stuff in Skynet is dissapointing, as has been mentioned.. But the rest of the film is great.. Very Matrixy in a way. Don't go in thinking it's gonna be gooseberry fool, at least try to enjoy it.

Also I thought Sam Worthington (is that his name?) was great.

I'm going in hoping it's going to be good but, with all sequels to beloved movies you always know you're going to be disappointed.

So in T5 the war goes back in time to before Skynet fired the nukes?

Massive WTF:

The whole heart thing just doesn't work at all

1: Marcus' heart was punched by a Terminator, surely this kinda damages it, no?
2: Marcus and John have the same blood type? doubt it.

I didn't notice half these plot-holes when I first watched it. Not important though it was still very entertaining, thought it was a bit too action heavy at the beginning though

I honestly think if you don't go into it looking for problems and plot holes you'll enjoy it alot. I did anyway. I mean, I don't care if the skynet stuff doesn't match up. Just take the film for what it's supposed to be and enjoy the damn thing.

One thing that made me laugh though in a WTF way...

How the strawberry float, could a robot that size in the gas station scene sneak up on you!?

It didn't sneak up, it was brought to the station by the carrier.

The carrier that had been following Kyle & Co since LA.

Yup, that might change though. (the above rumoured plot is from March, it's possible they've changed the plot since then)

Hmm, not sure what to think of that. Could be good, could be crap. I don't think I'm going to bother with this film til it comes out for home release, I'll probably get it on DVD for cheap. Won't bother paying more for blu ray, it doesn't sound very good.
