What a magnificent place.

Will put some bog-standard collosseum/vatican/st peters ones up when I'm less drunk. Rome is an amazing city.

Took care of a bearded dragon for a week a couple of months ago.

That is one awesome looking lizard.

Has a smug face there like he's thinking "Yeah, I know, I'm cool. Check out my beard. Bitches love it"

That locust was completely suicidal, crawled across the lizard's back all the way from tail to mouth.

Couldn't get a shot of it getting eaten though.

Amazing pictures of rome, I would love to go there on holiday one day.

I just bought myself a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38EB-K. I'm hoping it will ignite a burgeoning photographic excellence I'm sure I have within me.

Those dog pictures are amazing.

Here's a few shots I have of South Goa and some pictures on the way there. I'm the photographer, so the guy in the picture below isn't me, I just liked the way the blue of t-shirt came out in Mumbai airport.

Pictures were taken on a Nikon D90 and the shots were not set on automatic. I tinkered with every setting I could to try get as great a shot as I could.

This particular picture I strawberry floating love. You see right before I took this shot, I was aiming the camera at another bird, some white coloured boring bird that was just running off everytime it saw someone on the horizon. The resort was full of crows and also those shitty white birds. I was just trying to get a good shot, when all of a sudden the crow flew up just about ten metres away from me and started making a racket. I think it was quite a strawberry floatin smart bird, cuz once I started taking shots of it, it didn't fly off, I doubt it knew I was taking pictures but it was one brave bird who stood there and shuffled about cuz it was curious as to what the strawberry float I was doing. Then it turned around and I thought let me get a picture that says "THIS IS MY KINGDOM!". I love crows, the level of intelligence they display is strawberry floating amazing. I know they're self aware as well, they know their reflection:

Someone did that in the sand. I like to think it was a hot chick who can draw who did that early in the morning. The sad truth is that it's probably some talented local dude that looks like the Hunchback of Notre-Dame:

EDIT: Just clicked the link and seen you actually did mean D3000.

I'd probably recommend a D3000 or D5000 if you like the feel of the Nikons. Much better entry level models, and the 5000 will let you shoot video. The D90 would be a good one, too, as you probably won't end up outgrowing it, but obviously with more features comes in at a higher price point.

Out of interest, have you been in to a store and tried out some cameras? Or tried a friend's? There's no better way of finding out what'll be right for you than just having a go yourself.

As for taking photos like that, it looks like it's had a bit of a touch up, but with some decent glass on the front of your body, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to.

We've also got a camera thread in ATF, and and a photography thread over in CC.

I'll want a wide angle lense and I guess that I'll end up sticking with Nikons because of buying the bits.

Just looked at some of those other photos, yeah, I want to be able to do them like that.
