I'm pretty sure I've got swine flu. Is it really worth going to the doctor who is only going to prescribe me tamiflu? I usually just man up during illnesses and let my immune system do all the work. Is it a bad idea to do the same if I do have swine flu?

Swine flu is no more likely to cause death than seasonal flu. That being said, I'd go to the doctor anyway. Your call.

Don't go to the doctor as they'll probably get pissed off with you going to see them when they've been banging on a people not to go if they think they have it. Ring that Flu Pandemic Helpline or whatever it is.

Stay indoors, get lots of rest, drink plenty of water, try and eat fairly healthily 'cos you'll need the nutrients for fighting off the invading [microscopic] horde.

Well if it appears you do have pig flu then they'll just give you Tamiflu, which you will need to get someone to find for you. It also means staying in for aboot a week.

Yeah the damn thing is everywhere but the odds are you will make a full recovery. There are over 11,000 reported cases in the UK and only 50 deaths. That means that (odds are) 10,950 of those people made a full recovery. The media dont seem to want to report those figures.

Bear in mind that almost all of those deaths are people with pre-existing medical problems, then the odds are even better.

I felt really rough last night...

My limbs were aching, my head was pounding and it felt very unnatural....

However, I woke up this morning feeling fine....

Had someone special on my mind...

I was feeling pretty feverish yesterday. I think it was my mind playing tricks on me though. Today I feel ok.

Also, all deaths due to Swine Flu are (obviously) reported, but a whole load of minor cases aren't, which massively improves the odds.

I never went to a GP or bothered with Tamiflu - GP had already given advice to my housemate, so I just followed that, and I never felt bad enough to mess about getting someone to go to a special surgery to pick up Tamiflu for me.

I reckon 90% of so-called Swine Flu cases are just regular flu. Which means I'm pretty safe, as I am inoculated aganst that.

Possible - everyone's saying there's not much regular flu around at this time of year, but I definately had a fluey thing this time last year. Actually, thinking about it, that was actually much worse than the supposed swine flu I've had in the past week.

Hopefully, if you've had regular flu fairly recently, you're pretty safe against swine flu - can anyone shed any light on this?

And how on earth did you get a regular flu vaccination in the summer?

MCN must be in a high flu risk group. He is not a child or elderly and so I can only conclude that he is pregnant.

I get myself vaccinated every year. I'm still a Malaria risk, you see, because Malaria has a very long incubation period. Malaria's initial symptoms are very similar to 'flu, so I get myself vaccinated against 'flu so that if I do start getting the symptoms, I know it is a cause for concern.
