Permanently? Or are they just skiving off work?

Way behind here so forgibe me.

1) Just how easy to get is it? Do you have to physically touch the person with the Flu?
2) When will the vaccine be ready so I can take something before I head back to Uni next month?

I'm actually kind of worried.

Doubt their skiving off work as we don't get paid sick pay.

Pretty easy I'd think, as with regular flu/colds etc.

The first batch of vaccine won't be here until end of next month/September, but there's going to be priority groups who get it first. You're better off getting some paracetamol and stuff like that. I wouldn't worry too much, Crop, unless you have serious underlying health problems.

By that logic they should have a pretty strong immune system as they are constantly being bombarded with germs.

Got the flu. Whether its Swine or regular is unbeknown to me. Can't be arsed to see a doctor just to be told to rest up and take it easy for a few days.

I reckon I caught it from Igor...or the many places around the UK I visited last week including London and its Underground...or from one of the thousands of people I've served at a motorway service station I work at. Glad I've narrowed it down.

My boss was really rough today and went home ill, as did my girlfriend, and now i'm feeling really bad as well with a fever / cough / aches etc and I rarely get ill.

Girlfriend spoke to GP on the phone earlier as recommended by the NHS and they were really bad with her, saying she is only saying she is ill because of the media / blamed it on smoking / and told her she "can stay off work if you really want to". She only rang up for some advice as per the guidelines, GPs must be getting fed up with the enquiries for her to behave like that.

A few people at work have gone down with it.

If I was going to have it, I'd expect to have it by now.

Not too sure, some GP's really have no people management skills what so ever.

8-)

Today, I got HSBC to amend a circular that was posted on the Intranet homepage that every single employee has to read every day. They posted some hygiene tips that included washing your hands with soap and water or, if they're not available, an antibacterial hand gel.

Glasses were pushed up noses.

Knuckles were cracked.

Emails were written.

"Actually, madam, I think you'll find......"

Home pages were amended, with apologies emailed.

The problem is - with the way this thing is spreading, there's a good chance you're actually going to get it.

Anyway, I appear to be better now. Except I still have a cough, so I have to stay in the house. :fp: I'm going stir-crazy, I haven't been out since Friday...

I am tempted to fake swine-flu in order to get a couple of weeks off. But I know if I do that I will end up getting it for real and then have to find another excuse for time off. :D

Maybe I should just find somebody with it and hang around with them for a bit.

I had a terrible dream that I had swine flu, and it was killing me slowly and painfully. Luckily I woke up and realised it was just the AIDs.

My GF has it, it's been going round her work a lot, so she is confined to the house until it's gone. She's not got any "serious underlying health problems" (as the news on the radio put it), so the doc has told her to rest up and not go anywhere. I'm ok, she's been in semi isolation for the past day or so in the living room with the laptop and the TV.
