I would so buy this :fp:

So would I albeit I'd go the eBay/second hand route and look to get it for ~£30. The caveat for me is that I never played it, so whilst it would/could be considered a port or remaster, it would be a brand new game for me.

I wonder if we can will it into existence. :shifty:

We've got a Goldeneye and Metroid Prime re-release this year, pushing for any more than that might break the universe

Yeah, but it took years to will those into existence, so I don't think there's much to worry about.

I can see why people don’t like Super Mario Sunshine, between Mario’s erratic movement and the awful camera it becomes a chore getting through some of these levels. I am determined to see the end credits by getting the minimal amount of shines possible but boy is it testing my patience

I was relatively ambivalent to Sunshine back in the day but appreciated it a lot more when I completed it on 3D All-Stars.

It’s a good game, but not great like the rest of the 3D games, I hate the little stutter Mario does when you land a jump, especially on the FLUDD-less levels

Yes, what is that stutter all about? There are a few instances like that and it makes the game feel less precise than you expect a Mario game to be.

Not in my opinion at least, Sunshine has a lot going for it though, FLUDD is great to mess around with, the setting is great, Yoshi being available.

I have no idea what the stutter is about, it annoyed the hell out of me though

Beat Super Mario Sunshine with 55 Shines, Corona Mountain wasn’t actually that bad even with the shite controlling boat bit. Glad to have finally seen the credits of this Mario but I’m never going to subject to it ever again  more frustrating than fun

I’ll do Galaxy in this collection next but maybe I’ll save that until later this year/next.

The controls and movement in Galaxy are so much more rigid than every other 3D Mario. Tell me I'm wrong.

You aren't wrong about that. I also don't find it to be too much of a problem because of the way those games are designed. Whereas I find so many issues with Sunshine its really hard to take it seriously.

Hard agree. You think we all like Mario games for similar reasons, then everyone goes loving Galaxy despite it feeling stoppy and stodgy like it hasn't yet learned joined up writing.

But Jezo knows.

I genuinely don't follow. "Rigid"? How?

Odyssey movement gooseberry fools on Galaxy from a truly extraordinary height.

I do think it's by design why Galaxy feels as it does - the level design, geometry and "flip around every 2 seconds" nature of the camera mean that they had to make some specific design alterations to Mario's movement mechanics. He doesn't flow as much because you need him to land and stop on things, his movements are much more regimented and, as Jezo says, rigid than something like 64 or Odyssey.

Whilst I appreciate some of the reasons why they did it, for me it is a much less satisfying character to control as a result. Long jumps that stop dead on landing and don't have that joyous follow through, side jumps that feel jerky and less responsive, a more limited level of air control - all these things add up to make it just that little bit less fun to get around IMO.

The true killer is the movement lock that you get occasionally - to compensate for how wild the levels and camera get at times they often "lock" Mario's movement to a direction in a way that doesn't occur in other 3D Marios, which means despite making subtle corrections on the stick you can end up missing a jump or going off track from where you expect to be
