The ladyfriend made me watch Strictly a couple of years ago and I must confess that now I bloody love it. I missed it on Saturday so I'm watching it on iplayer. How sad is that?

I don't think they need to be mutually exclusive. Especially with the innumerable repeats that X-Factor gets on ITV2. The BBC and ITV seem to be doing their best to avoid each other though.

I must say, X-Factor is shaping up nicely this year with some genuinely good singers. Not like last year. :fp: Not that I actually care. ;)

Anyway Mr Hours- you're getting hitched so you'd better brush up on those dancing skillz.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

 The best weddings are other people's. Not wishing to look like total numpties, prior to our nuptials Mrs Octoroc and I took a beginner's dancing course. It's a good social skill to have- once you've learnt the disco-fox you can dance to pretty much anything. The ladies love a dancer.

I can only stomach X-Factor in 15 minute doses, at least until the studio stuff happens. It's just so sickening it makes me want to vomit.

Alesha Dixon WILL replace Arlene Phillips on Strictly Come Dancing, confirms BBC

Alesha Dixon is set for a sensational return to Strictly Come Dancing this year - as a judge.
The BBC has confirmed that she WILL replace acerbic Arlene Phillips, 66, on the top-rated show's judging panel in a deal announced today.
And in a surprise move, another judge will be added to the panel for the final three weeks, retired ballet star Darcey Bussell.

Arlene, 66, has been axed from hit BBC One celebrity talent show after six series, in favour of 40-year-old ballet star Bussell and 30-year-old singer Alesha Dixon, who won the competition in 2007.

Dixon will join judges Len Goodman, 65, and Bruno Tonioli, 53, when the show starts this autumn.
And world-class ballet dancer Bussell will appear as a guest judge on the panel towards the end of the series.

The word on the street is that Arlene will be the Strictly Come expert on the One Show.

Amazing scenes.
