Hmm, any link to the PSP game that was announced last year but hasn't been spoken of since?

Canned on PSP and moved to the more powerful 3DS?

Are those screens from in-game or cut scenes? If they're in-game then I'm very impressed! Really want to see some proper footage now.

We're not sure, I pointed out a list of graphical artefacts in the screens that indicate they can't be GC mocks or FMV.

Also judging on the graphics in MGS3, Dead or Alive and Street Fighter 4, the 3DS seems capable of this.

I believe that might be the case, and also Saints Row PSP (announced but never shown, now back for 3DS?)

Kojima was talking during the little "Devs hype 3DS" about how MGS + Jungle + 3D = AMAZE. Then they revealed Snake Eater. The person talking about Resident Evil was very specifically talking about classic Resident Evil, with dark corridors and horror. Then they revealed Resident Evil: Revelations.

The name makes it sound like an Umbrella Chronicles type spin-off, but based on the images and what was said in the little "chat", this might be a return to the franchise roots. I'm very excited for this, and as a few people as said I'd actually expect this to look better if it was a bullshot, as it's quite angular and low-res in some places.

Reports suggest that what has been seen of Resi was live rendered. So it should be indicative of the quality of what we'll be playing in the near future.

I'd better any money the final 3ds game doesn't look like this. These are PS3/360 level and the 3ds is supposed to be at GC/Wii level graphically.

Bear in mind the 3DS is rendering at a much lower resolution.

Digital Foundry have an article up, and they seem to think it's in-game:
In a similar vein to the MGS demo we have Resident Evil: Revelations from Capcom. No gameplay environments, but what we do have is a cut-scene featuring dynamic camera tweaking, zoom options and a pause button for appreciating some of the more spectacular shots.

What impresses here is that it looks as though Capcom has tried to scale back its Resident Evil 5 models to work on the 3DS. While backgrounds are very simplistic, those player models are astonishingly well-realised and very good-looking. The fact that the Chris Redfield model is readily recognisable from his HD adventures speaks for itself.

This is possibly the most interesting thing to come from E3 so far, I'm such a big fan of the RE series and, basically, this has guaranteed me as a 3DS day one buyer.

And no way in hell are those screens at PS3/360 level.

You can see the jaggies rather easily if you bother to give it a proper look. It's just very impressive for a handheld.

I'll bet you any money the final game doesn't look like this. Reports I've read put the device somewhere at the Dreamcast/GameCube level.

Visually, those screenies are way, way ahead. Oh, and the 'jaggies' aren't glaringly obvious to me, though I am using a laptop. Besides, I could see the jaggies on 360.

We shall see. Call me sceptical.

They really aren't and from what I've seen especially with Snake Eater the 3DS actually surpasses the gamecube and gets really close to looking as nice as the Wii does.

It doesn't look all that grand if you look closely (just look at the textures) but the way they've used lighting to detract from it is amazing.

Y'see, I've seen the Metal Gear thing. And that doesn't look that impressive to me. Just looks like a decent PS2 game.

Blimey that looks good.

This new DS could well dominate again.

But it must be said that Snake Eater 3DS looks way ahead of the PS2 original too.
