Teachers will have to make clear that gender ideology is a "contested belief" rather than fact if they bring it up in lessons, Gillian Keegan will say later this week.

The Education Secretary is set to issue guidance on Thursday following criticism that some pupils were being taught that there were 72 genders.

Schools will not be told to hold lessons on gender ideology, which states that people can be born the wrong sex and that they can change their identity to the opposite sex or other categories such as non-binary.

But if they do hold lessons on the issue, they must make it clear that it is a contested belief.

In other words, they must say that the "gender-critical" belief that there are just two biological sexes is also valid.

Well it's obviously in the interests of "balance".

That such a platform is constantly given to such abhorrent views and beliefs is why those are so emboldened. Note that the Torygraph also throw in the random "72 genders" number to make the thing seem more ridiculous.

What is it with the 72 number? It wasn't so long ago that all of the mockery was aimed at Islam and "72 virgins!"

Our local Tory MP (Jacob Young) is gracing us plebs with his presence at the grand opening of a new (Private) Orthodontist this Friday.

Could we not put the ‘debate’ to bed forever by doing away with the idea of gender altogether? This would give people the room to be whoever they want to be without having to worry about labels beyond a box on forms that says ‘human’ on it. Surely that is the ultimate goal?

It would also be nice if we could design a perpetual motion device.

It'd be nice if nobody cared what gender somebody else is and everyone just respected everyone else.

But if people can't accept that trans people exist, then they are not going to suddenly end the "debate" by doing away with the idea of gender.

I don't think we will ever be free from sexism, racism, transphobia or any of the other bigotry's. Things might get better, but it's very unlikely all humans will suddenly realise that everyone is just human.

People need to be able to label and categorise people, otherwise how else will they secure themselves in their own categories and labels, or know onto which people they can deflect and project hatred?

It's the kind of thing that can only happen after true equality has been achieved, otherwise removing labels just disguises the issue.

That many unlabelled jars seems irresponsible

Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty's personal fortune has increased by more than £120million over the past year.

The couple overtook King Charles as their wealth jumped from £529million last year to £651million. Their fortune is driven largely by Ms Murty's stake in Infosys. an Indian IT company her father founded. They are the wealthiest inhabitants of No10 in history and the PM is richer than King Charles.

Friend of mine was telling me that since Sunak became PM they've got a load of Infosys contracts in the Civil Service. They didn't know of any before Sunak became PM.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.
