I’m sure they’ll throw out all their related policies as quickly as they did after ULEZ/Uxbridge

Labour are briefing they believe they are on course for defeat in the West Midlands mayoral race, with support for independent candidate Akhmed Yakoob, who stood on a pro-Gaza ticket, a major factor.

A senior party source said: "It’s the Middle East, not West Midlands, that will have won [Conservative candidate] Andy Street the mayoralty. Once again Hamas are the real villains.

Labour condemns 'racist' party source quote

Labour have distanced themselves from an earlier quote from a party source that we reported here. The source linked an expected defeat in the West Midlands mayoral race to the war in Gaza.

A Labour Party spokesperson said: "The Labour Party has strongly condemned this racist quote which has not come from anyone who is speaking on behalf of the party or whose values are welcome in the party."

Wonder who this 'senior party source' was...

Maybe it's the same source that considers Muslim voters as not really counting among the general electorate?

And Labour are currently promising to send in the National Audit Office if they win the General Election.

Also keeping Sunak's leadership alive might be a positive for Labour as the guy is a fundamentally useless PM.

The good news looking at the Tory MPs is that there is not one that could do a better job than Rishi. :toot:

Andy Street's campaign materials have all been very similar, with green being the main colour on all his leaflets rather than blue, and no prominent mention of the conservatives anywhere.

Maybe they have some exit polls, but I don't think they've even started counting the votes yet.

Having said that, multiple sources have confirmed to me that Count Binface has won.

The parliamentary constituency of Nuneaton has traditionally been a bellwether seat, meaning it has backed the winning party in general elections.

I think at this point its gotta be said, this isn't really the thumping victory Labour were maybe hoping for regards the seats they are getting. May force a small rethink before an election.

I kind of agree with this. It's really terrible for the Tories but the support for Labour isn't really there.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.
