Sundays and Thursdays are good with me. I'll definitely be in for Events 1 and 5 and as the others are only $3 I may do those as well.

Edit: Actually Event 5 is when my pub poker final is although that starts at 1pm so i'll probably get knocked out in time anyway.

Can we change the date of the ME? I'm doing the great south run that day and am not sure if I will be available.

Well if you aren't sure then I'll wait until you know either way. If necessary we can make the ME the following Thursday or Sunday.

Surely you'd want to play on a day when you were running good?

I'm running and playing well at the moment. I have the second highest average in the whole of the Southern League.

I'm getting all my run bad out of the way now so I won't have any when GRSOP comes around. 8-)

Turned my $50 on Stars into $65 by playing a few of those $1 50-man tourneys. Played eight, cashed in four, won one 8-)

There are prizes at Area Finals and National Finals.

You play for free at pubs, earning points to try get into the top however many players to qualify for a two monthly finals. Money the pubs pay to have the league there goes towards prizes at the area finals. Its not cash, but the prizes do get quite decent for a top three/four finish. For a while it was Vegas trips, but things have gone back a bit since then.

At the Nationals its holidays, tournament entries (some WSOP) and Vegas.

On another note - massive suck out to prevent my average being damaged - came 3rd.

Had A-3 on a 2-3-4 board, shoved - got called by 3-3, hit running Aces for a bigger FH!

I do feel that I should make an effort to get involved with the pub leagues and stuff. How do I go about finding out which pubs are involved?

Check out www.livepubpokerleague.co.uk - see if that runs in your area.

If not try 'Red Tooth' see if that runs.

It prepares me so well for live games. It makes my online game sucky, but I just enjoy the live game so much more.

I used to play in a RedTooth league and it was £5 a night. I ended up breaking even over two seasons, even though I was the best player there by a considerable stretch. Lack of rake is very nice.

I just play in the Bristol League. Every day there are two or three pubs that host a free game and at the end of the month the top 80 players go into the final where first place is usually about £300. As long as you play a couple of games a week then you are almost guaranteed enough points for the final and also everyone that wins an individual pub gets a trophy and automatic entry into the final.

I've checked out that link, Lizzy, and none of those are in my area sadly. Had some better luck with RedTooth though, there's a place just under a mile away which plays on Sundays so I might pop down.

Some WSOPE predictions:

-Jason Mercier to win a bracelet
-Chris Bjorin, Phil Ivey, Timishenko, Greenstein and Dwan to make final tables
-None of the November Nine to makes a final table
-Daniel Negreanu to final table the main event for the third year running
-Praz Bansi to win the main event

Still nothing.

Praz Bansi has just crashed out in 11th of Event #1: £2,650 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em. :(

Chris Bjorin (6th) is still in the hunt though, so hopefully one of my predictions will be correct after one event. Phil Laak is in with a good chance too as he is currently 5th.
