Pub poker is so shiiiittt. I ran like dump again, the blinds go up at a ridiculous rate, so I'm sat there in MP with AJo and around 5BB left. One limper, I go all in, everyone folds except limper who calls (leaving him with about 2BB) and shows 68d. Flop is 68x. Turn delivers a ray of hope with an Ace but the River shows nothing.

Reached the final table but I was the short stack. I'm still pretty short now but this was a much needed double up:
SB: t807070 M = 11.21 BB: t583835 M = 8.11 UTG: t570497 M = 7.92 UTG+1: t1477239 M = 20.52 UTG+2: t369024 M = 5.13 MP1: t748323 M = 10.39 MP2: t655725 M = 9.11 CO: t1442471 M = 20.03 Hero (BTN): t158816 M = 2.21
Pre Flop: (t72000) Hero is BTN with 5 5 5 folds, CO raises to t65000, Hero raises to t155816 all in, 2 folds, CO calls t90816
Flop: (t383632) J 8 2 (2 players - 1 is all in)
Turn: (t383632) Q (2 players - 1 is all in)
River: (t383632) T (2 players - 1 is all in)
Final Pot: t383632 CO shows 4 4 (a pair of Fours) Hero shows 5 5 (a pair of Fives) Hero wins t383632

Unlucky, Sat. AK always crops up when you get AQ, doesn't it?

Out in 9th for $500. Shoved with AQ and ran into AK.
A bit disappointed to not have done better after being chipleader for so long but still happy to have reached the final 9 out of over 2000 players and $500 makes up for my run-bad the last week.
There was this one hand which I played awfully and is the main reason I went to the final table so short stacked. I hadn't played a hand in ages so I decided to bluff one and then it all went wrong:
River: (t2850) 5 (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets t1924 all in, BB calls t1924
Final Pot: t6698 Hero shows A A (a pair of Aces) BB shows 6 8 (a straight, Six to Ten) BB wins t6698

You played that a bit weird though right? Surely a better line there is bet 3/4 pot, fire again/check, the check the river? What was the point in shoving the river? Surely all you're getting called by is a hand that has you beat, aside from a high T.
EDIT - Any reads? Ul btw.

I did play it a bit weird but I didn't think the flop had have hit him at all and I was short stacked so trying to get all of my chips in and double up. So I checked the flop and hoped he would bet the turn which he didn't, so then I bet the turn. When he then checked the river I figured he can't have had a hand that beat me, but obviously I was wrong.

Right, I'm knocking pub poker on the head. The hand that decided it for me today was when I raised 4BB up pre with KQ, got raised again and then raised all in. Obviously I fold. Other guy calls and shows AA, the original all in guy shows 37 and says that poker is all luck so he has just as good a chance of winning. He rivers a straight. He then says poker is all luck so pocket Aces don't mean anything. I tell him that it's about playing odds and playing your opponents, he says no it's all luck and I decide to just shrug my shoulders and not bother.
It's my own fault really for trying to play pub poker to make money, rather than for the night out. I will continue to play at the one pub because I like the people there, there isn't an all in every other hand (especially not with 37) and I enjoy the night a lot more even when I lose.
Online forever .

Yeah I guess I understand you're move, but I think I'm making more of a stop and go type play there. It might get less chips, but you're still gaining and slow playing Aces has led me into oblivion far too much. He shouldn't be calling there really (preflop) but his range includes plenty of tens, maybe ace-rags that have hit a pair, or a middle-ish to high pair - enough to allow you to ship it and still take in a decent-ish pot.
Maybe I'm just a scardy-cat, though. I tried slow playing my Aces in the 1/4 million (was at the $50 stage and needed to chip up), by min-raising in MP. Called by 22 and JQ, and with a flop of JQ2, I was a little stuffed

Niche! Anyone seen the 4-man turbo HU games? I quite like them, it's definately improving my HU game. Also highlighting my biggest leaks.

The shootouts? Loads of people on 2+2 play them together and agree to chop if they both make it through the first round. I don't like them tbh. I quite like the idea of the big big shootouts though like Sat owned.

Fair enough. I was just wondering whether they are more profitable than the 6-max $13, that's all.

I was just playing a few SNGs and there this one 'donk' who kept making completely stupid moves and so I made lots of notes on him and got it in well ahead several times JJ>95o, AK>AJ. He let me see a free flop with 34o when he had T5 and he flopped top two pair yet just checked all the way down to the river where I made a straight and picked up the pot
So basically he was playing very bad but got lucky a few times and eventually knocked me out when I went in preflop with AJ, he called with A9 and flopped a nine. He was being really cocky in the chat and so I was just about to reply by saying that there is no way he is a long-term winning player but I thought I better look him up on OPR first and it turns out he is rated 99.98% and has over $95,000 profit from the last three months

strawberry float poker. I've played seven HU games today and won two of them. Three times I've ended up all in vs KK with an Ace and every single time the Kings have held. Two times I've been all in with a stronger Ace than them and they've hit their kicker. strawberry float off.
