Ok added Jebus on teamviewer. Will be playing some HU at 4pm if anyone wants in for watching then just catch me on there.

Also Nova your roll gonna be 2.1k? I assume you are going to play $25NL until you complete your 20k hands or whatever you proposed? You can certainly try $50, being rolled for it but I'd advise just playing them out for experience first.

Down $75 today so far. Got out two paired twice and ran into KK and QQ again when trying to bluff or had top pair.

EDIT: Playing now.

EDIT: No longer playing. Tripler coolered. -_- -$140 day.

Nova wrote:It was a 5% 2R1A, where you could rebuy any time you were under 1million chips, so obviously the chip average was going to be hugely inflated. I wasn't going to rebuy, but I found that in the first hour before the break I couldn't hit a hand, or even get one really. So I buckled and rebought twice and then added on at the break, thinking I could get quite deep for some reason. The break came and went, I still wasn't really hitting, but decided to keep paying attention, purely for the huge value in the tourney. Sat in 900 of 1700 after the first break, purely on the back of rebuys and addons.

The tournament that I won at the end of last year was very similar to yours. It was also a $5 rebuy but it wasn't limited to 2 rebuys although there were only about half as many players. It also went on until the very early hours (7am  ).

I don't think there's anything wrong with rebuying. In fact some of the poker books I've read say you should always rebuy right at the start of the tournament to gain an instant advantage and then always do an add-on during the break.

Nova wrote:As far as I'm concerned, you certainly need a run of cards to win big tournaments like these, but it's the precise value bets, steals and reads that really make the difference in how much you win. I kept right on it throughout and felt I thoroughly deserved the result I got. I'd gotten deep in 4000+ tournies recently but then run into bad luck, so I knew I was capable. But after that 33 hand, I knew it was probably just destined to be

Incidentally, I'd made quite a few friends, and about 8 of them specced me after they went out :) One sent me a dollar too

I completely agree with you, you can't win a tourney like this without a lot of luck and good cards but you also have to be playing very well. It doesn't matter how lucky you are, you won't beat 2000 players purely on luck alone.

I also made a few good friends from playing long tournaments. A couple of years ago on Bet365 I was playing a satellite and was sat with this same guy for the whole tournament. The whole time we were joking and poking fun at all the donks who we both kept knocking out. We both won a seat into the next tourney which was a few weeks later and during that tourney we watched each other play and both did well. I ended up making a stupid mistake and knocking myself out just a few places away from the prizes, but the other guy managed to make it and won a tournament package for a big live tournament. Although I rarely visit Bet365 now I still speak to him occasionally via email/MSN.

Downloaded Team Viewer. Can we not just stick usernames in the first post? IF SLAYER EVER UPDATES IT! I'd be up for keeping the thread updated, if Slayer doesn't mind and if it's actually possible.

Just got my roll up to $120, then cleared my $50 bonus, so I now have $172!

I'll be amazed if I can keep this up, though.

Ignore the start, that was with my old roll :D

So I'm playing a couple of MTTs and one of them I'm doing quite well and just about to reach the money, the other I'm not doing so well but I've just been dealt KK and I raise pre-flop. Then all of a sudden all my programs close and windows shuts down so it can install updates
You think it's would at least ask me before shutting my computer down in the middle of a poker game :fp:

Edit: I ended up short-stacked on the first tourney so I shoved with TT from the button when it got folded to me and the BB called with 88. Naturally an 8 comes up on the river :|.

I just made the money in the other tourney I was playing (a $5 rebuy, $40K guaranteed). I'm currently 106th out of 289, there were 2313 starters.

Edit: Just took a big hit with my AK going up against AA.

Edit2: I just lost another big one with 66 vs A2.

Edit3: I'm out :(, I came 156th and won $55. I was short stacked and the blinds were about to come back round to me so I shoved with 78s and got called with 66 which held up.

To be honest I'm surprised I got as far as I did considering how much bad luck I had in this tournament. During the rebuy period I lost with KK vs A2 so I had to rebuy, then my stack pretty much stayed the same until the break at 90mins, so I was well below the average. I meant to do an add-on during the break but I forgot :fp: and so I struggled for ages after that. It wasn't looking like I was going to make the money, so I'm happy that I did.

That just seems unlucky Gaz, tbh. Well done on cashing a decent amount though!

Is it always a good idea to cont. bet in cash games?
***** Hand History for Game 29407639674 ***** (Poker Stars)

Mr Peter had been playing 31/8/5.0, but I only had 13 hands on him, and simizer had been playing 55/35/4.0 over 40 hands. Maybe if I get a free card I should just take it there?

Unlucky Gaz.

Nova, I don't like betting three-way pots with flops like that. I think it's okay to take the free card. If it was HU I'd bet it.

I agree with this. Not so good being OOP 3 handed. If guy is playing quite fishy whilst often your A high will have value you probs won't see him fold to many cbets giving you a hard decision at the turn and potentially river. Check a lot of the time I feel and hope for a K or A on turn or maybe pop at turn if they check flop. Also 50NL? :P

Gonna send a bit of a PM out in a minute.

Cheers guys, I just went on auto-pilot on the button.

As for the new thread mentioned in Rex's PM, I would love to run a new thread - I'm in here posting all the time and have loads of things I'd like to do with a new thread, but if people (like Drumstick) have asked to do it before then that's fair enough.

I may be jumping the gun a bit here, but I'm going to start a new thread. Just ignore it, and let me work on it, and see if you all approve.
