Apparently the guy who finished 6th in the $11M tournament last weekend has had his $500,000 prize money confiscated because he was only 17.

How gutted must he be feeling right now. :fp:

My local club has the worst standard EVER now. EVER.

If I had a hand better then J-5 I would have won a lot I reckon. I cannot WAIT for next week!

Yeah it's rubbish. Bad players, crappy adds, gooseberry fool banter.

How is anyone supposed to get durr'd if he isn't there. Damn jokerstars.

In other news I cashed in a jokerstars MTT yesterday for like $20 or something. Didn't cash in the others do ended up down obv but progress nonetheless.

FFS.

I did nothing wrong tonight and somehow I bubbled in a freezeout. Luckily I got my money back for that but forjesuschristsakes can my cards hold?

Mid stack. Mini stack shoves blind on blind. I have Eights. Call. He has Aces - I lose.

I am now a mini stack. I shove with A-2. Called by Q-J. Win. Double.

Short stack shoves. I have Queens. He has Tens. They hold, and I am well above average.

Another short stack shoves next hand. I have Queens again and call. He has A-J. Turn is an Ace. Back to the realms of average.

Win a pot where I have got trips on the flop. Back above average.

Down to five. Guy shoves for a third of my stack. I take some time, then call with A-EIGHT. He has A-3. Hits a 3 straight out. I am yet again back to slightly below average.

Mini stack shoves - and is insta called by someone else with Aces. He shows A-FOUR and is out.

Bubble money agreed, buy-in back.

I need to make a move. I raise with A-9, everyone calls. Nothing initially. Checks round to me, so I bet 2/3 the pot. Fold, fold - call.
I hit a 9 on the turn. Check, check - guy who is a donk bets half the pot, and I know he cant have a ten so I call. The other fold. The last card is a another 9. He shoves all in - and I snap and hes rivered a flush. The blinds were so high I dont think I could have gotten away from it, and this guy was so loose it was unreal.

I just want to win at that club! Never won there, and come close on several occassion - its getting on my wick!

Without stack sizes, blinds, etc, it's difficult to really comment. GG though.

To be fair its very hard to remember stack sizes over a long time.

True. I always make a point of regularly checking out the stacks of my tablesmates and my own stack as well so that I always know where I'm at in relation to their stacks. It's also handy as with practice you can become really quite adept at accurately estimating stack sizes with just a short glance. As a result things like the blinds and stacks always stay with me throughout live tournaments when considering past actions from each player.

So, uhhhh...poker.

I'm a newbie; I got into it playing some card games at my girlfriend's place and figured I'd play it online a little (Texas Hold 'Em). I'm not ready for cash games just yet due to various reasons, but I've been playing some free flash games and suchlike. I realise doing so doesn't exactly count as good experience for a proper game, as nothing is at stake, but it's decent for learning how the game goes, if not for learning strategy.

I have a couple of books - Texas Hold 'Em Poker: Win Online by Paul Mendelson and Texas Hold 'Em For Dummies by Mark Harlan - but was wondering if there were any other books, websites etc that are recommended reading for a poker novice. I'm going to do a lot of reading before I even attempt a cash game.

Oh, and another question, does anybody know when poker is back on Sky Sports? Summer, I'm guessing, to tie in with the WSoP?
