I just played an $8 rebuy and started off really well being in the top100 (out of 1400ish) for the first hour without needing to rebuy at all. After that though I was completely card dead and stuck on a table that calls any bluffs. The top 216 got paid and I held on until about 270th but then got knocked out. I had 66 and saw a cheap flop which came up 578 opponent goes all-in I call as it's pretty much the best hand I've had for the last hour and I thought the guy was just trying to steal, which he was with A9. Turn is a Jack, river is a 6 so I get my set but he hits a straight :|

Just before this I thought I'd caught a break when I was dealt AA in the BB and a big stack went all-in but it turned out we both had AA and split the pot :|

Not that I answer to the name of Rex, or that my cash game is as good, I had the following displaying:

Total hands and percentage of hands played
Pre flop raise
Bet the flop
Fold to c-bet

I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm missing something but it's been so long since I've used a tracker.

I'll be primarily playing SnG and MTTs tbh, but thanks :)

I went on tilt quite badly just before easter. I didn't have time to play many games but the ones I did play I didn't concentrate properly and generally just played very bad. I think my bankroll was about $300 at the time and it got as low as $27 as I wasn't keeping an eye on it
I still can't believe it got so low actually as I was mostly playing $10 tournaments and I don't think I played that many games :?

It's all good though as I somehow managed to build that $27 back up to $400 in the last two weeks 8-)

I find it can be quite helpful to have those stats for SnG's as you often see the same person on multiple tables. I use it for MTT's too but as you get moved quite a lot it's not as important.

I just did something very unwise. I sat down at a $0.25/0.50 table. I played only five hands. This is what happened in hand two.

PokerStars Game #27626824971: Hold'em No Limit ($0.25/$0.50) - 2009/04/29 13:18:25 ET

Seat 2: H6U5r ($50 in chips)
Seat 3: andyfinn ($37.50 in chips)
Seat 4: bennyklimp ($69.20 in chips)
Seat 5: Proper Zing ($50 in chips)
Seat 6: Jslp_17 ($48.50 in chips)
Proper Zing: posts small blind $0.25
Jslp_17: posts big blind $0.50
*** HOLE CARDS ***

robvleugel: folds
H6U5r: raises $1 to $1.50
andyfinn: calls $1.50

Jslp_17: folds
*** FLOP *** [9d Kc Qc]
Proper Zing: bets $2.50
H6U5r: folds
andyfinn: calls $2.50
bennyklimp: raises $3.50 to $6
Proper Zing: calls $3.50
andyfinn: calls $3.50
*** TURN *** [9d Kc Qc] [Kd]
Proper Zing: checks
andyfinn: checks
bennyklimp: bets $11.50
Proper Zing: raises $31 to $42.50 and is all-in
andyfinn: folds
bennyklimp: calls $31
*** RIVER *** [9d Kc Qc Kd] [4d]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
Proper Zing: shows [Qs Kh] (a full house, Kings full of Queens)
bennyklimp: mucks hand
Proper Zing collected $106.50 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $109.50 | Rake $3
Board [9d Kc Qc Kd 4d]
Seat 1: robvleugel folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 2: H6U5r folded on the Flop
Seat 3: andyfinn folded on the Turn
Seat 4: bennyklimp (button) mucked [Th Js]
Seat 5: Proper Zing (small blind) showed [Qs Kh] and won ($106.50) with a full house, Kings full of Queens
Seat 6: Jslp_17 (big blind) folded before Flop

Biggest sum I've ever won by some margin, including tourney winnings. Roll is back to $200.

Nice one!

I just played a $5 satellite and won a place into a $55 tournament, but I unregistered and kept the money as usual.

Right back atcha. Which type of satellites do you tend to go for, how many runners, etc?

It was actually a rebuy tournament but I didn't do any rebuys or addons. I think rebuy tournaments are my favourite for satellites because you end up with a lot more places winning a tournament entry.

The tournament I just did had 147 players and because of the rebuys/addons 36 people won a $55 tournament entry. Had it been a normal tournament then only 13 people would have won.

If it was a $3 tournament or the seats were worth more than $55 then I probably would have done a rebuy right at the start to double up your starting chips and maybe an addon during the break, but for this $5 tourney I didn't think it was worth spending any more on rebuys.

PartyPoker is trying to piss me off at the moment. In an hour of play it dealt me two good hands. The first was QQ, which went all in against...QQ. Split. The next wasn't until the blinds were 200/400! I hadn't shifted anything because my hands were so shocking and by then I only had AQ, so I shove it in. Called by JJ and QQ.

Insane at the moment.

I did say he isn't going to understand most of it atm but for future reference it's awesome. If he wants to learn the basics I suggested making a video. The guide does contain all the basics too you know?

Also Drumstick, don't play there again!!!!

For stats I have

Name: Hands
VPIP:PFR:AF
3bet:Fold to 3bet:Cbet:Fold to Cbet
Blind steal:Fold to BB steal:Fold to SB steal

This is for cash though. For tournament I have nothing, I watch their play and take note myself.

If you do want to use some though use VPIP/PFR for sure. The problem is you won't get enough hands for stats to converge so they are mostly meaningless compared to observations you can make yourself.

Also gonna play at the Isle again this weekend. :D

The following is from Doyle Brunson's Super System - A course in Poker Power. Page 45.

"The most common tell is the pulse in a man's neck. On a lot of people, the pulse in the neck is visible. If so, a man can't hide it, since nobody can control their heartbeat in stress situations. When you see a man's neck just throbbing away, you know he's excited, and usually he's excited because he is bluffing".

Surely that's wrong? :? Surely people get excited when they've got a really good hand, and they're working out how much to bet/hoping they get called or even raised.... right?

He then goes on to talk about ESP.

To be fair it was written 30 years ago so it's no surprise the idea of tell's were not fully formed and accurate. As for the ESP thing, it's more of an intuition from seeing similar situations that subconciously reveals itself, not quite the paranormal that springs to mind.

It really does reflect the time in which it was written.

"Nor do I like to see a woman at a Poker table [...] I just don't feel comfortable in high-stakes warfare against women".

But after watching this I'm starting to think he might actually have some sort of ESP :o

Does anyone else have the problem in Pokerstars where on the lobby it doesn't update the games in realtime so you click on a game and it opens up a completely different one to what you thought it was?

I just went to register for a $5 rebuy tournament and noticed it was about to take $4 cash out of my account which is strange as I have loads of tournament dollars and it takes those before it takes cash. Upon closer inspection it was actually a $109 tournament  and I cancelled. I was so close to registering and as it was about to start I wouldn't have been able to unregister.
