I'm pretty sure it was more like 800 total. I don't get why you called at all. Seemed pretty wishful to make the call. :( At best he has two over cards IMO and maybe if you are so so lucky 99/88 but IMO you are beaten bad or flipping. I don't like getting it in pre with Jacks let alone tens and even QQ makes me unhappy so early on.

I can't remember exactly how much it was but it was about half my stack to call. I know it was a bad move but I'd just watched yesterdays pokertube vid and seen what the people were going all in with there (53, 94, 34) and this guy had already lost half his stack at the start so I just figured he could have had anything.

But yeah I played that badly, I should've folded.

I just came back from a home game which was a waste of time really  I played fairly badly overall but I lost big pots with my full house (other guy had quads) and AK vs KJ, but then I got 5 hands in a row which were like, 27,35, 24,25,26 before getting tens which I shoved, called by KQ and the queen hits.

No luck today :P

Do you still play like a nit bastard at your Pokersoc? :P

I've come in the points positions twice running now but no final table yet, losing 60/40s and such. Need to get a little more aggressive too.

Cheers, I think my call when you had the pair of Kings was the turning point though to be fair I had sucked out more than a couple of times during the whole thing! Really enjoyed it though, sorry I don't speak more on the chat but my monitor is a bit gooseberry fool so just having all 4 tables up on it doesn't leave any room for the MSN window. I still feel a bit rushed trying to multi-table but it is a lot of fun :)

Congrats PsychicSykes on your 2nd yesterday, I was watching but I can't properly rail until I put some money in. Out of interest can you remember what you folded during the heads-up when you said in the chat that you couldn't believe you were folding?

I usually do okay at poker, but if I want to start playing for cash I need to up my game big time. So in the spirit of this, here are the last 12 hands I just played on Pokerstars. I was wondering if someone could have a scan and let me know what they'd do differently. I'd really appreciate it.

I'm on a table of 9 people, blinds are at 5/10. People keep leaving and joining so my position doesn't always make sense but these are all consecutive hands. No limit hold'em, obv.

Stack: 2932
Position: Dealer
Cards: 2 8, Fold

Stack: 2932
Position: 8th
Cards: 4 A, Fold to bet of 220.

Stack: 2932
Position: 7th
Cards: A 5, Fold to bet of 290.

Stack: 2932
Position: 6th
Cards: J 8, Call BB, as do 7 others.
Flop: A 7 6, Check, Then fold to bet of 90.

Position: 4th/BB
Cards: 6 3, Fold to bet of 800.

Stack: 2902
Position: Dealer/SB
Cards: J Tos, Bet 100, Two callers.
Flop: 5 J 8, (two are clubs, I have one club), Bet 200
Turn: 9clubs, Bet 1000, he folds.

Stack: 3302
Position: 8th
Cards: A 7, Call BB
Flop: A 6 8, Bet 300
Turn: 4, Fold to bet of 700 as three clubs are now on the table. Turned out he had the flush too.

Stack: 2987
Position: Dealer
Cards: A J, Bet 200, Five callers.

Gah. I have 36 in the BB and there are three calls. Flop is 3K6, so I obviously bet out pretty strong. I get raised and so I reraise. He calls. Turn is a T. I shove it (not too much left, even though I had put him on KQ/KJ/KT), and he turns over KT :fp:

You can get the actual hand histories if you set it to save them. It's much easier to read back. Go into options somewhere and save. Then whilst at the table there is something you can click in the top corner to review previous hands. Are the blinds really 5/10 for this whole sessiion? Is it a tournament? What's the buyin?

82 fold is correct. You don't want to ever consider playing this hand.
A4/A5 also fine. Usually people will wake up with a better ace anyway.
I don't call with J8 still most likely.

I gave up on trying to translate the rest. I need to know how many people are at the table, what the blinds are, what action there is before you, everyone's chip stack, the prize pool, your position in the tournament etc to make a decent comment. Either try get hand histories or download camtasia free trial. Use it to record a tournament. It's quite easy to use. Upload it and then we can see as you see. I'll be happy to watch half hour of a tourney, as will most people here.

Looking at the stuff he's put up I'd say that he's playing on a play money table, which would explain all the really high pushing early on and why people keep joining/leaving.

Oh I see, it's a cash game. If you want to learn to play cash then don't waste time at the play money tables. You will learn nothing.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/ryanfee/fees6max.pdf

Use this as a bible. Right now you won't understand most of it but keep coming back to it.

Play 6 max tables, not 9 max. Just do some reading and if you like I can lay down a few basic ideas with reasoning. If you do some reading you'll already have a massive edge over most of the idiots who play low stakes poker, then you can jump into the cash games for real.

This is correct, a play money cash game with only a 1k minimum buy in. I thought I'd try to get good before putting any real money into my account. I did put £20 in about 6 months ago and slowly lost it all :D

Because with 6 it's easier to keep track of each players style? The only reading I've done is the Poker for Dummies book, but it does recommend some other books at the end. Sklansky's The Theory of Poker and Brunson's Super System are two that I've ordered. Thanks for the link.

Rex, what do you record when you play poker? I'm spending a couple of weeks out to give myself a gameplan (roll stands at $300), and was just wondering if I should set up any new records for things.

I think I had 88 with a couple of overcards on board, just lying my arse off. Thanks for the rail dude, shame I got absolutley schooled when it got down to heads up. I checked the guy's sharkscope after though, I doubt he'll be playing 4.40's for much longer.

And Rex, isn't Fee's PDF slightly advanced for someone beginning? I thought someone as nitty as you ( :P ) would recomend a more snug style to start with.
