I would of re-raised more mate just how I play but I would of pumped it 3.5$ or maybe even 4$ more I know you don't want to over commit yourself but given his image you need to put the pressure on pre-flop he might of called anyway.

I wouldn't say it is unbelievable tbh. Calling 3bets with 88 is fine IP.

Also I told you before you 3bet sizing is bad (perhaps why people do not fold). 3.5x and even more when there is a raise call. You aren't giving people enough reason to fold.

Don't worry anywho, swings and roundabouts.

Yeah, it's just a bit of variance, it just all came so quickly! I don't know, I want people in the pot, of course I do, right?

I kinda hoped you might fall at the final hurdle so we could share our collective pain, but well done!

So what happened? How did you decide to play the final game in the end?

I had to look at a tight conservative route to start with as none of the top 4 were on my table.

As luck would have it 2nd got knocked out early on by a good player on the other table who even if he won was unable to catch me.

Anyway I opened up a bit but made a really bad call with 22 which cost me half my stack.

I limped and about 3 other players did including a short stack who was in the small blind.

Flop was 3 4 5

He pushed on the flop and I put him on high cards, I knew he was small blind but he had been pushing with them for a little while now.

After 3 minutes of thinking about it I figured my pair was good and I had the open ender so I called and he turned over the nuts.

After that I just couldn't catch cards and went out 12th I think and left it in the hands of the Gods and I checked tonight and the results had just been put up

In hindsight I didn't exactly have the nuts, but I thought it was a good move at the time....the guy who mucks was furious as he had middle set, and did his best Hellmuth impression at me! Discuss.

Against a set you would win the hand 1 in 4 times, but as the other guy had two diamands you were even less likely to win this time. So if you had known that one of them had a set then you should have folded, but I don't think it was too bad a call as a lot of the time they will just have a pocket pair or something like A8.

You're getting 3:1 on your money there. Normally I wouldn't call with a flush draw (I hate to get it in when I know I'm behind), but those are tasty odds.

As I said at the time it's a risky move and not one that I think I could make but it is an understandable call, especially if you think hitting an A is good enough as well.

He didn't stop calling you a donk for ages and then called me one when I pointed out your outs . Him losing all of his stack when he pushed into AA after the flop was hilarious though, especially as it came almost straight after he was gloating at you calling the with top straight into a flush.

Played another losing session for an hour today, ended up about $15 down. Just a few coolers - flush running into FH etc, but did well not to lose too much.

Roll at just over $1200

First place might have paid $96,361 but the win in Event #8 ($2,500 No Limit Deuce to Seven) earned Phil Ivey a helluva lot more than that. Ivey knocked off the final two players, Yan Chen and John Monnette, to capture his sixth World Series of Poker bracelet and help him collect on a series of prop bets he had with a number of fellow pro players.
