Just qualified for the $27 knockout tourney just now, in a $11 super turbo. Not sure whether to play it just yet or not though... I took out 1 player, and when we got HU we both knew we had qualified so he called my all in with 2T against my K5 and won  Meh, might play it if I've done enough work in the next two hours.

Not sure if I should be annoyed about that or not. I couldn't fold after raising and I'm always shoving that flop after he raised it. Maybe I shouldn't have raised preflop in the first place. :shifty:

Once you've seen the flop I don't think there's any getting away from that hand but personally I would have folded pre flop when you were 3bet.

It was only 400 more to call though. A min re-raise I think or is that called a 3bet?

Min-raise or any variant is the minimum amount legally allowed to raise.

3bet is the third bet in the pot (Blinds (1), Raise (2) 3bet (3) 4bet (4) etc)

In this case I'd say he min-3bet you. :)

Ah alright. I always thought it was re-raising 2.5-3x what you initially raised.

The problem is you have a very weak hand and the stacks aren't huge. I don't think there's anything wrong with raising or folding, but once he 3bets you I think you have to give it up as you aren't going to hit many flops where you know you are good, and 400 chips is still almost 10% of your stack. Others here are much better at HU though so they may have better advice. :P

I was building up a few chips at a steady rate early on but then I got a short stack all-in on an AT8 flop with A9 v 82 and turn is a 2 to give him two pair and put me back down to the 5k starting stack. I'm up to 6k at the break but the table is pretty tight now with a couple of the donks gone.

Reasoning:

I thought that the small blind could have a weird hand that could have me beat, but once the guy behind me had raised, I felt I could only put him on one of two hands: AQ or JT. And looking at how tight he has been (10/2), I didn't give him JT. I was happy with my play, but wouldn't have been comfortable with a flat call behind. Thoughts?

It's a bit risky as it's a dangerous flop with lots of people in the hand but I probably do the same.

In a 'LOLDONKAMENT' I would err on the side of playing these hands fast, so I'd agree, but I'd probably click the button with a bit of a whince if that hhelps...

It does, to be fair. But I felt pretty ok about the situation, ultimately. 88/99 was a risk I'd have to take.

Just went out. Got unlucky with top pair all in on the flop against a donk who called with AQ high, to high a Q on the river. Pretty gross just before the cash, but meh.

Just bubbled the $11 40k MTT thanks to this hand. I'm not sure how UTG+1 can get it all-in pre with QT :fp:

I was playing the Ante Up SCOOP tournament at the same time and have almost reached the money :)

It's such a weird game though as the blinds stay at 5/5 the whole time and the antes go up really quick. Basically at the moment an unraised pot is almost 2500 and it is 5 to call yet loads of people are still folding pre flop despite 500-1 odds  :fp:

Edit: I'm 291/1875 now (top 1800 cash) after this hand:

Poker Stars $15.00+$1.50 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t5/t5 Blinds + t300 - 9 players - View hand 681105

BB: t13488 M = 4.98
UTG: t57685 M = 21.29
UTG+1: t17476 M = 6.45

Pre Flop: (t2710) Hero is UTG+2 with KImage 5Image

Hero bets t4115, BTN calls t4115

River: (t18040) 8Image (2 players)

Hero wins t30620

I think I'm going to end up sticking my fingers down my throat if this run continues. I win so few coinflips it's sickening.
