Just busted out of a $4,000 GTD tourney on WH first hand. I get it all in with QQ against a guy who has limped UTG with TT and he flops a set. FML.

Check out my YouTube channel!

That certainly seems to happen much more frequently than once every ten times, doesn't it? The last few times I've had the overpair it's happened to me and the last time I had the lower pair I sucked out to make a set. The laws of statistics are WRONG, I tell you!

Nope. It's just you only rush your chips in with overpairs. A lot more of the time when someone hits the set you have something like AQ, hit nothing, and fold. It only seems more frequent because you see the set itself. It's a very common way of being busted.

Hm? I meant when two pocket pairs go up against each other.

Hmm, ok. Even then though, people fold most of the time, and you never see their lower pair. It's just when you lose to a set with AA, you just remember those more than when you take down a pot on the flop with AA (with lower pairs folding etc.).

Yeah you have to be careful chasing donks. I've lost a fair bit over time doing that.

Well he said he was giving away free money and shoving evey hand. I'm not sure if I should have tightened my calling range to reduce variance because it doesn't happen very often. And by every hand I mean every hand not most but every.

I was just at the shove-fold situation, shoved with A9c to be called by two people who both showed Jacks . I hit the Ace on the flop and turned two pair just to rub it in 8-).

Watching your tournament, Sat. I can't rail as I don't have enough to buy in to the tournament :(.

It's been fairly uneventful so far, I've just been slowly building up my stack without getting into too many tough spots. I folded AQs pre-flop early on after raising it and then getting reraised by a tight player but other than that I can't think of many interesting hands. It seems to be going ok though, not too far from the money now.

Also, I didn't buy-in direct I played a satellite so it only cost me $22 instead of $55. So even if I just reach the min-cash of $80 that will do very nicely. :D

For some reason I seem to play really badly on other sites than Pokerstars  I'm not really supposed to be playing until after my exams, so maybe I'm rushing it a bit.

What did you have when you just check-raised? The only thing I can imagine is that you were slow-playing bullets or you flopped a straight.
