Never playing on jokerstars again. I get AI pre 56o vs QQ and all I get is a gutter draw which misses. As if that happens on ipoker.

Yeah, you're all right on that issue - It was a bit of a lottery at the end. Still, can't think of too many places with a better structure. Maybe casinos are better, being a bit quicker at the start, but for banter and a few hands, I don't mind it taking a while.

Anyway,

Drummy pretty much identified the players on my table, so I can't really add to that, but despite how bad at least three of the players were, I had almost nothing for the first six levels of the game. I eventually picked up AA and, after UTG (horrible player) limped, I raised 5x and he called. Board was a fairly innocuous 33Q48 board, but he had K3, obvs.

I hadn't been above starting stack for 6 hours, and I was letting everyone know ( ), whilst the rest of the guys had been on a bit of a rollercoaster but were all up. I didn't get AI and called at any point in the game, actually. I stole a few blinds as they got higher though, and bluffed twice with JK on T high boards which brought me to about 15-20BB. They kept giving me credit for hands because I had a rocky image, but to be honest, it's just because I'd been given almost nothing.

In the later stages though, I got some cards. Chopped a pot with AK vs AK, and then finally got QQ. Raised up to 2.6x ('it's those internet kids, mush!'), and got called by a fairly loose Scot. The flop came Q96 (two spades). So great, but I'm not making any money out of it. I check, and he checks behind. There is something like 45k in the pot at the time. The turn is a 4 of clubs, putting another flush draw out. Still not great though, so I get my weak face on and bet something like 20k into the pot. He tanks for a while, before calling. The river is a 9, which is a good card really, but again nothing to get him to commit with. I bet 35k into the pot of 85k, and he tanks, goes to throw away his cards, then tells me he's going to make a bad call. He shows AT, and I am happy with myself. He called even though I only left 20k behind. Obviously not really paying attention, but then I knew that he wasn't, tbh.

Nothing else really, apart from shoving and getting folds. FT I called Gaz all in when I had AQ and he had QJ, then I folded 99 pre to a shove because the BB was committed. Lucky for me as the first guy had QQ and hit quads! Apart from that I was just shoving and people were folding, right up until 4 people were left.

A deal was discussed, and it was pretty good for me. £200 for everyone, £260 left to play for. I call a button shove with A4 (he had T7) and he hits a T to knock me out. Still, pretty decent considering I was going nowhere fast for much of the game.

Oh, and Drummy, just whip me £20 on Stars. I'll be disciplined and take it out Can I do that?

Couple of things:

First thing on the agenda is cash games.

Now that we have the home game feature, a regular cash game idea was mentioned last night. I liked this idea as did the others who were playing in the game. If we want to do it, we need to decide upon which day is best for the majority who want to play. I can do most days but I’d like to avoid Thursdays as I work late. There’s also the issue of start time and duration. How long do people want to play for and in what disciplines/stakes?

Of course, there’s nothing stopping anyone posting about wanting a game at any given time, like DML did last night, which turned into a pretty cool 4-handed game.

The other thing is an idea which someone mentioned last year but we left it too late, The World Series Fantasy League.

This is pretty simple to run; a draw is done to randomise the order of picks. Let’s say for example that Gaz runs good and gets first pick. He picks Phil Ivey. Everyone else then picks in order until we get to the person who drew last, let’s say this is Aaron. Aaron would take his pick, and then pick again, and then the order reverses backwards all the way up to Gaz again. He then gets two picks and etc etc. I am sure there is a name for this type of system but I don’t know it. Anyway given the amount of time it will take for everyone to get a full team this would probably need to be started in March so that everyone has a full team in time for the start of the WSOP in late May.

We can also throw some random ones in, like you must pick at least one female, one player over a certain age, and any other random variables we can think of. I am all for this but I am not going to run it, so if anyone wants to volunteer to organise this and keep tabs on players, teams and points, that would be appreciated.

Hang on these games are raked? Why would I play against you lot with rake when I could be playing fishies with rakeback?

My home games are rake free...

Aye, with tournaments though it's possible to play rake-free by shipping the entry fee to 'trusted person' and then using play money for the tournament and then getting 'trusted person' to share the prize out amongst the winners.

tbh I have very little interest in playing cash games anyway, so probably won't do a regular game against you lot who obviously know what you are doing. I might be up for the occasional game as a bit of fun but long-term it's just chucking money away, especially if you are playing Omaha.

Let me know any details of an online GR cash game. I know I've said I'd join tournaments in the past and haven't, but I do want to get involved, if only out of curiousity at the standard of play.

I like the 'WSOP Fantasy Team' idea in theory but in reality I like to avoid reading anything to do with the WSOP until it's shown on TV.

This year there were 57 events and only 3 were shown on TV. I do see your point though.

I like the idea of the rake-free tournament. I'd trust pretty much anyone of the poker crew to handle the money.
