Notable updates from Day 1A of the Main Event.

Cunningham Cooked

It's nearly impossible to catch action at the featured table, but we did catch wind of a notable knockout that just occurred. Having been whittled down to a relatively short stack, Allen Cunningham ended up all in before the flop with ImageImage against the pocket kings of Lex Veldhuis. The board came ace high and full of rags, and Cunningham could not improve. Norman Chad's Fantasy Poker team just took a huge hit; Allen Cunningham is out of the Main Event.

Jerry Yang Eliminated

A short stacked Jerry Yang was all in before the flop with ImageImage against the ImageImage of his opponent. The flop came ImageImageImage giving Yang the best hand with a pair of sevens and an inside straight draw. However, the Imagefell on the turn putting Yang at risk. The on the river sealed his fate, eliminating the '07 champ from the tournament.

Straight Flush No Good for Danzer

We caught this hand as the chips were being counted on the river. Patrik Danzer held ImageImage on a board of ImageImageImageImageImage. Unfortunately for him, that wasn't good enough to win as his opponent, Christian Jeppsson held ImageImage for the royal. Danzer still has his starting stack of 30,000 while Jeppsson has 50,000.

Cooler Alert: Straight Flush vs. Quads

On a board of ImageImageImageImageImage, a player bet 1,500 into Radek Stockner. Stockner made a large raise to 6,250 and his opponent reraised to 12,000. Stockner moved all in and his opponent immediately called for his last 25,000. Opponent: ImageImage Stockner: ImageImage That's right - the river brought the ultimate action card, giving Stockner a straight flush and his opponent quad jacks. Radek Stockner eliminates his opponent and takes the large pot with his straight flush, moving up to 67,500.

Sick last two hands.

Double or Nothing strategy added to the first post.

Is there anywhere to watch the Main Event?
If not then I'm going to try and stay spoiler-free until it's available to watch.

Pokertube tourney didnt go well got it in with a straight only for them to river a full boat.

I'm currently deep in a $1 tourney I registered in while waiting for the pokertube one.

Starting field was 734 players we are down to just 27 players payout structure is pretty poor and the blinds are big.

Missed the tourney, only just saw the post. Might play sometimes but overall probs waste of my time. :P (Buyin too low). Might be there to lel dabear though if he plays there too.

Nice WSOP stuff. Since my net time is now more limited it is nice of you to summarise important jazz here. I will try see when Kanu and Jambon are playing.

Also cash on better tonight. I love weekends. +£53ish.

Down to the last 17 players now but only 30k in chips with 1500 - 3000 blinds and an ante of 300.

Out in 15th pushed with AJ and some guy called me with 44 nothing on the board and I'm gone

Nice slayer. What's the payout structure?

Also whilst I remember. Not watched much of sats vid. Res was quite small and as he said mic was no good really. :(

Was also quite slow because of what it was. From what I saw as well I didn't question anything. Seem to do what I'd do. ;)

Managed to recover yesterday's loss this evening. Was pretty much bang on EV too. Only two all ins, one I was a massive favourite and the other he was dead. :) Roll £637. I really need to play like 7-12 on a Saturday or something. It's just so damn donkalicious.

Latest WSOP updates from Day 1B:

Moneymaker Blows Up

Various ESPN bods had been lurking around table 1 for some time despite the no sweating rule, and eventually their vulture-like patience was rewarded by a short-stacked Chris Moneymaker getting his last 8,000 or so in preflop against one Joe Villacci. Moneymaker: ImageImage Villacci: ImageImage Greg Raymer appeared to sweat (no sweating!) his fellow former world champion, with the words, "Feel the love!" There's an image for you. Board: ImageImageImageImageImage Thus we lose Moneymaker, and a clearly delighted Villacci was up to 45,000.

The Godfather is Gone

Over on the second feature table, Doyle Brunson was just eliminated from action. According to one of the dealers working that table, Brunson held pocket threes against an opponent's ImageImage. The board was ImageImageImageImageImage. We're not sure when the money went in, but Doyle's opponent flopped a double gutter against Brunson's set and was able to pick up his straight on the turn. Unable to fill up on the river, Brunson was eliminated from the tournament and received a standing ovation from the fans in the area.

Bad day for Mike Matusow too - he's sitting on just above what he started with. :(

Just had another good session and now back to the £680 I was on two days ago. Played really confidently. Decided to play $20NL since it was not the evening and 50 tables looked too reggy.

Two hands though. Both Q9s in fact.

sniffdonkey ????

Only 50 hands on the guy so not much to go on. Seems "ok" but not superb. Played 50% of hands so far which is probably on the tight side HU. Raised into about half of them, limped or called the rest.

How easy do you think this is to fold? If I fold I keep $11.45 and lose $9.60 I have already involved. Really wasn't sure what to do here. At first I felt surely he has the K or 4.

More of a hand to lol @ tbh. Guy is SUPER aggressive. He opens to 4BB HU from the button which is massive donkage. I just played good hands only where I can flop hard as a consequence and 3bet them pre. So far he has called my 3bets with random hands like K7. He seems to raise 100% to 4BB or fold. He has folded to 3bet but hardly at all. Fold to cbet over 84 hands is 0%. Don't read into that too much though I'd say since I'd not really raised many of my hands let alone cbet them against him.

If I fold I keep $7.68 and currently have $11.70 invested. I know I played the hand fairly badly but I did expect him to fold to the turn bet a load of the time. The question is what now? Can I fold? What if he just has top pair? Surely I have enough in the pot to justify calling? How often do you think I am massively beat by like an overpair or set etc? Maybe even a Q or 9 are good cards for me as well as the 7?

Also:

jambon and kanu both played day 1b and finished with roughly 60k and 40k respectively. gl guys

Watch out for Alex Millar and Jamie Brown then. Both ex Warwick poker legends.

Did you win slayer?

Loaded up poker for an hour's play before gaming then bed and I am sure glad I did:

http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/5990/lelo.jpg

Roll stands at £777.87 ~ $1270 + ~£15 RB. I ran pretty good in terms of cards perhaps but in terms of EV still ok for the day. :) Hopefully I will be able to play $50NL soon enough.

Really enjoyed playing this weekend. I think I should really try to maximise time spent playing at weekends. Tomorrow I will be at my dad's until Friday morning so I will have lots of poker times in the evenings. If anyone wants to do some sweating lemme know. Speaking of which where the hell is everyone? Did they all piss off to Vegas for the ME or something?

I only play very infrequently now (work), Sykes has withdrawn his bankroll, Slayer and DML play live almost exclusively and I think Nova is on holiday at the moment. Not sure about Sat, maybe he's on a bad run or is taking a break. Haven't seen Jebus around much either sadly.

Nice graph; sick spikes.

I'm around still, but haven't played as much poker as I'd have liked to this weekend. I entered the $10 250K on Stars earlier but busted out early after flopping a set and getting called with a flush draw which hit on the river.

I also played two $10nl tables for about an hour just before Top Gear, but ended the session $3 down. I didn't really play too bad, just didn't really have any donks at the table and as I wanted to watch TV I just left early instead of trying to leave with a profit.

I'm down about $50 from the $600 I had last week and I think it's because I play too many different types of game at different stakes. One minute I'll be playing $10 MTT, the next I'm doing cash tables, then some $5 1-table SnGs, so I'm going to be quite strict and set myself a challenge: I want my bankroll to be $650 ($100 more than it is now) this time next week and I'm going to play nothing but $5 SnG's during that time. In theory this should be very simple and easily doable in a few days, but in practice I get distracted and end up winning money on one tournament and then losing it playing something else, so setting a simple and attainable challenge like this should hopefully help me build a bankroll.

Edit: I know it's long and boring but did anyone get around to watching any of my video yet?

Busted out of the Pot Limit game in 10th I ended up all in pre-flop with QQ against 1010

Boarded ended K 10 9 J 10

Talk about sick

Regular SNG games or DON?

Yes, I flicked through it in about 25 minutes the other day. The only things I didn't agree with were the A7 although you were kind of priced in, and the 55 at the end. The guy who raised initially isn't going to go away when he is the massive stack even if he has a really marginal hand like a ragged ace or QJ. I know you were pretty short at the time but I think it was your button, I'd have probably waited for another round to pass and tried to steal once or twice to see if I could pick up something else.

Probably just the 18/27-seat SnGs.

I don't remember the A7, I'll have to skim through the vid again and find that. The 55 at the end was my biggest mistake, I was hoping for a coinflip at best. I know it was a bad move, but I'd been stuck at about 8,000 chips for ages and the BB was 800 I think. I had stats on the other guy because we'd been at the same table earlier and my stats said he was quite loose, but as soon as I went all-in I realised he'd actually tightened up a lot on this final table and he had to have a big hand.

I've been checking in occasionally but I haven't been online much at all this week. I haven't played for a while more down to time constraints than anything so I haven't had anything to report. My cash game still sucks though.
